Billy Lee Carman

Bill Lee Carman, son of William E. and Gladys (Stone) Carman, was born October 25, 1931, in Pittsburg, IL. He departed this life Monday, August 19, 2013, in Lake Regional Hospital, in Osage Beach, MO, at the age of eighty-one years, nine months and twenty-five days. On October 10, 1970, he was united in marriage to Linda Marie Bryant in Cahokia, IL and to this union two sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Junior and Danny Joe; and three sisters, Louise, Barbara and Gracie. Bill is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two sons, Douglas James of Richland, MO, and Craig Allen, of Waynesville, MO; three grandchildren, Brittany Marie, Jesse Lee Allen, and Brianna Danielle; two step-grandchildren, Gregory and Andrew Burleson; his brother, George Carman of the State of KY; four sisters, Dorothy Jean Tedrick of Highland, IL, Shirley Kingston of Mulberry Grove, IL, Betty Emerick of Vandalia, IL, and Kay Snyder of Vandalia, IL; a number of nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He was born and raised in Illinois, in the Vandalia area where he attend high school. He served his country faithfully during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went to work for the Norfolk & Western Railroad for seventeen years. He later moved to the Crocker area where he worked in sales for Ad Tracker for twenty years. He loved his family dearly, especially spending time with the grandchildren, and in his spare time he enjoyed sports, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the VFW. Bill will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by his family and friends. We celebrate his life and treasure the memories he created for us. He will live on in our hearts forever. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 23, 2013 in the Crown Point Church of Vandalia, Illinois with Rev. Pete LeDuc officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace”, “How Great Thou Art” and “Wind Beneath My Wings” were played. Serving as escorts were Don Brimberry, Clinton Elam, Darin Elam, Joe Tedrick, Kody Brimberry and Jesse Carman. Burial followed in the McInturff Cemetery near Vandalia, Illinois. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
