Jack Strohl

Jack Strohl, son of Bobbie L. and Joyce (Miller) Strohl, was born April 29, 1948 in Tacoma, Washington. As a young boy, Jack and his family moved several times due to the fact that his father was in the military. He spent most of his school years in Lawton, Oklahoma where he met his sweetheart, Karen Ann Martin. On January 26, 1968, Jack and Karen were united in marriage in Lawton and they shared over 42 wonderful years of marriage together. They were blessed with two sons, Jared and Jamie and many wonderful memories. In September 1966, Jack enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in September 1970. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon, and the AFM 900-3. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Jack, Karen and the boys settled in the Waynesville, Missouri area where he began working for Civil Service as a systems analyst. He was a volunteer Deputy Sheriff for many years and enjoyed meeting the people around the county. In his spare time, Jack enjoyed being outdoors enjoying God’s creation while camping. He was very talented with his hands and did beautiful woodworking projects in his shop. He also tinkered with computers. His greatest passion in life was his church and family. On April 1, 1967, Jack was added to the Lord’s church, Romans 16:16. Locally, he was an active member of the Waynesville Church of Christ. Whenever the church needed help with a project, Jack was always willing to help. He enjoyed spending time with fellow church members. His family was a very big part of his life. He treasured those times that he spent with them, especially the grandkids. Jack went home to be with his Lord at 12:28 p.m., Tuesday, March 2, 2010, at Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 61 years, 10 months and 2 days. Jack will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Jack leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Karen; two sons: Jared Keith Strohl and his wife Erin and their children, Hunter, Logan and McKenzie of Edmond, Oklahoma and Jamie Ryan Strohl of Chicago, Illinois; his mother: Joyce Strohl of Palm Bay, Florida; four siblings: Mary Ellis (Bill) of Rockledge, Florida; Carolyn George (Doug) of Apopka, Florida and Debra Rickard and Robert Strohl both of Palm Bay, Florida; several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and friends. Jack was preceded by his father, Bobbie L. Strohl and one toddler brother, William Harold Strohl. Funeral services were held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, March 8, 2010 in the Waynesville Church of Christ with Evangelist Joel Carey officiating. The congregation sang “Amazing Grace”, “Each Day I’ll Do A Golden Deed”, “Our God, He is Alive” and “Home of the Soul”. Graveside services with military honors were held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2010 in the Gracelawn Cemetery of Edmond, Oklahoma with Evangelist John Duvall officiating. Dale Decker prayed the closing prayer. Those attending sang “Amazing Grace”, “Each Day I’ll Do A Golden Deed” and “Home of the Soul”. Military honors were provided by Tinker Air Force Base of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Jack Strohl to the Waynesville Church of Christ and may be left at the funeral home.
