Joann Schindler

Joann (Achen) Schindler was born on June 13, 1951, in Newburg, Missouri to the union of the late Jess Joe Achen and Grace Mammie (Huff) Achen. As a young girl, Joann grew up in the Waynesville area where she attended school and remained for the remainder of her life. Joann met a young United States Army soldier by the name of Bryne Spencer Schindler, who had just been transferred to Fort Leonard Wood after serving in Korea. They were married on January 14, 1968, in Rolla, Missouri and shared nearly 42 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death on September 18, 2009. Joann and Bryne were blessed with two daughters, Sherry Ann and Tiffany Jo. Joann was fortunate enough that she was able to spend a lot of time at home raising her two girls, Sherry and Tiffany. Her family was very important to her, and she cleaned houses for a time to help provide for them. She always wanted to make sure to meet their needs (even serving as a Girl Scout leader when Tiffany was a young girl) and that desire was still there when her daughters began having families of their own. Spending time with her family was what brought her the most joy and especially time with her grandchildren. In her younger years, Joann enjoyed sewing and going camping by the river. But in her later years, you could find her watching TV, especially her favorite show Matlock, playing Solitaire and even a Wheel of Fortune game that she wore out from playing so much. She also enjoyed eating good food and visiting with family and friends over a good dinner. Joann had made a profession of faith and attended First Baptist Church of Waynesville when she was younger. Because of that decision, she went home to be with her Lord and be reunited with her husband Bryne, Monday, October 21, 2024, at her home in Waynesville having attained the age of 73 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Joanna leaves to cherish her memory, her two daughters: Sherry Schindler (Greg Fields) of Waynesville, MO and Tiffany Dennick (Edward Cain) of Waynesville, MO; five grandchildren: Justice Dennick (Burgandi Knapp), Tyler Schindler (Sarah), J.T. Dorris (Melissa), Nicholas Dorris, and Liberty Griggs; three great grandchildren; three sisters; Carolyn Brotherton of Waynesville, MO, Vickie Achen of Richland, MO, and Bonnie Miles of the State of Illinois; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Joann was preceded in death by one sister: Jackie Murray. Even though she is gone from our sight, Joann’s love for her family will live on in our hearts forever. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 28, 2024 in the Memorial Chapel of Waynesville, Missouri with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. The songs "Mama Said" by Lukas Graham, "When I'm Gone" by 3 Doors Down, and "Something in the Orange" by Zach Bryan were played. Graveside services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 29, 2024 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Springfield, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Joann Schindler and may be mailed or left at Memorial Chapel.
