Lou Emma Palmer

Lou Emma Palmer, daughter of Harlis and Bessie (Childress) Kidd, was born January 24, 1944 in Fillmore, Kentucky where she grew up and attended school. Lou moved to Waynesville, Missouri where she met Clarence A. Palmer. They were united in marriage on August 13, 1965 in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared over thirty-seven years of marriage together before he passed away on April 24, 2003. Lou and Clarence owned and operated Gateway Cab Company for many years. She was a great provider for her family and raised her family in the Waynesville / St. Robert area. Lou lived in the Waynesville area most of her life, until a few years ago when she moved to Springfield to be near her son. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors while gardening and fishing. She was an avid reader and most importantly, she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Lou passed away Monday, September 19, 2016 in the Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of seventy-two years. Lou leaves to cherish her memory her two children: Clarence Palmer Jr. (Angie) of Springfield, MO and Betsy Blankenship (Laura) of Columbus, OH; step son: Lonnie Palmer of Stoutland, MO; five grandchildren: Angie Doden, Jason Palmer, Robert Blankenship, Greg Blankenship and Brandon Palmer; six great grandchildren; five siblings: Harlis Kidd, Jr. (Judy) of Pontiac, MI, Dexter Kidd (Sandra) of Beattyville, KY, Tom Kidd (Velda) of Campbellsville, KY, Harry Kidd (Cathy) of Campbellsville, KY and Mona Marchbanks (Lee) of Waynesville, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Lou was preceded in death by five brothers: Hank, Vernal, Howard, Sam and Ralph Kidd. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, September 22, 2016 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Jose A. Martinez officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace” by George Jones, “I Hope You Dance” by Leann Wommack and “I Will Always Love You” by Dolly Parton were played. Serving as escorts were Jason Palmer, Rob Blankenship, Bret Lainer, Greg Blankenship, Kaleb Palmer, Tristen Doden and George Kelly. Burial followed in the Steele Memorial Cemetery of Hartville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Lou Palmer and may be left at the funeral home.
