Barbara Louise Jackson

Mrs. Barbara Louise Jackson of Waynesville, MO passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009. She was 67 years old. Mrs. Barbara Jackson was born February 14, 1942 in Jefferson City, Missouri. She was the oldest of six children. Her father, Carl Johnson, preceded her in death. Mrs. Jackson is survived by her devoted husband of 48 years, retired Army Corp of Engineers Lieutenant Colonel Ollie T. Jackson and her mother Ruth Johnson from California, Missouri. Mrs. Jackson is also survived by her two children: Sidney Jackson and family from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Bryant Jackson and family from St. Paul, Minnesota. Mrs. Jackson’s extended family includes four brothers: Carl Johnson, Jr., Marshall Johnson, Steven Johnson, Michael Johnson and one sister: Carolyn Johnson all from the Mid-Missouri area. Other relatives include several nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mrs. Jackson was family-oriented, devoted to her husband, children and family. She was one to provide council with wisdom, encouragement and inspiration to many. When she was able, she attended the Fort Leonard Wood Post Chapel for church services. Her hobbies included travel as she visited many countries in the last several years. In support of her husband’s military assignments, her family and country, Mrs. Jackson traveled and resided in several foreign countries. Mrs. Jackson is sadly mourned and will be greatly missed by her beloved family, friends, and all who knew and loved her. The family wishes to express sincere thanks, and is deeply appreciative of the many caring people who offered prayers, love and support during her lengthy illness. Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, May 3rd in the United Methodist Church, California, MO with Rev. Michael Jackman officiating. Other speakers included Sidney Jackson, Angela Murphy and Lucius Warrick. Soloist, Earl Turner sang, “Precious Lord Take My Hand” and “Amazing Grace” and was accompanied by Pianist, Joseph Hardaway. The condolences were read by Wilma Partee. Serving as escorts were Stevie, Michael, Marshall, Freddie, Chris and Carl Johnson, Jr. Visitation was also held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Monday, May 4th at Memorial Chapels and Crematory, Waynesville/St. Robert. Mrs. Jackson’s final resting place is the California Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Barbara Jackson to the Barnes Jewish Cancer Research Fund and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory.
