Billy Joe Ellzey

Billy Joe Ellzey, son of Carroll Ellzey and Barbara Ann (Lucas) Ellzey, was born December 1, 1971 in Carthage, Missouri. During his middle school years, Billy and the family moved to the Laquey, Missouri area where he graduated from high school. In the summer of 1999, Billy met a young lady by the name of Susie Lynn Broeckelman and they were united in marriage on April 21, 2000, which happened to be Prom night. Even though there were people that didn’t think it would last, Billy and Susie knew that it would because of their commitment to one another. They shared over 22 years of marriage together. Along the way, they became parents to eight children who they loved dearly. Billy worked as a welder for Playcraft/Charger Boat Factory in Richland, Missouri for 15 years and was very good at his job. He loved to make things out of metal and aluminum to include trinkets, boxes, and a rose for his wife. In his spare time, he loved to play cards, was a huge fan of Hot Rod cars-even attending shows, hunting and fishing, play pool and he was a HUGE Green Bay Packers football fan….so much so that it drove Susie crazy! Billy spoiled his wife and children in so many ways. He would spend the afternoon pulling the kids in a trailer with his lawn mower just to make them smile. He loved his kids more than anything in the world and that’s about all he talked about with his co-workers…..his wife and kids. Billy was the kind of man that would do anything for anyone and always put his family first. He had a best friend who he looked up to…Wayne. Billy passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 50 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Billy leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Susie of the home; 8 children: Samantha Ellzey, Chad Davis, Serenity, Atticus, Temperance, Marcus, Gracie, and Chloe; his mother, Barbara Ellzey of Laquey, MO; mother-in-law, Paula Wright of Richland, MO; one brother, Wesley Ellzey of Waynesville, MO; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. Billy was preceded in death by his father: Carroll Ellzey, and one brother: Timmy Dean Ellzey. Billy was a very devoted and loving husband and father. There are no words to describe how much his family and friends miss him already. Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, September 12, 2022, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Mike Wells officiating. Songs played included, “See You Again,” “Dancing in the Sky,” and “Daddy’s Hands.” Serving as escorts were Seth Stelmaszak, Rudy Rosas, Wayne Goertz, David Paul, Donald Paul, Danny Paul II, Logan Harrison, and Larry Harris. Honorary escorts were Jonathan Wright, Danny Paul, Josh Walters, Clint Wilkerson, and Terrence Barton. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland.
