Bonnie Flo Breyer

Bonnie Flo Breyer was born July 31, 1918 to Reverend Virgil F. Manes and Grace E. Manes in Swedeborg, Missouri. She was married by her father Rev. Manes to Lloyd M. Breyer June 6, 1948. She was presented in marriage by her Uncle Drew York at the First Baptist Church in Swedeborg. Lloyd and Bonnie had one son Merrel Manes Breyer born 1963. Bonnie graduated from Iberia Junior College, continued her education and graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Elementary Education. She held a Master’s in Education from the University of Missouri-Columbia 1963. Her teaching career spanned many generations with 32 years of service. She taught grades 1 through high school but her true love was teaching and learning of young children. She was a very diligent teacher who demanded that her students learn. She taught school in Richland, Swedeborg, and Waynesville. She was a member of Kapa Kapa Iota – Zeta for many years as well as American Association of University Women. Bonnie Flo accepted the Lord as her personal Savior at a young age and served him a life time. She was a life time member of the First Baptist Church in Swedeborg and served as their pianist for over 50 years. Music thrilled her very soul and heart. She was a life time member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter of Richland, Missouri. Bonnie was a charter member of the Pulaski County Historical Society. She helped compose and prepare the first book on the history of Pulaski County. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory her beloved son: Merrel Manes Breyer of Swedeborg, and many other relatives and friends. Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 20, 2011 in the First Baptist Church of Swedeborg, Missouri with Rev. Jim Burton, Rev. Eddie Hamilton and Rev. Doug Jacobson officiating. Pianist Amanda Starnes accompanied Becky Lercher as she sang “In the Garden” and “I’m Going Home”. Pianist Starnes also accompanied the congregation as they sang “It Is Well With My Soul”. Serving as escorts were John Rosipal, Billy Ransdall, Dr. Art Bryant, Chip Long, Roy Jones and Ronnie Dye. Burial followed in the Bethlehem Cemetery near Richland. Services were under the direction of the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made to the Missouri Cattlemen's Foundation Scholarship Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
