Carol Ethel Mennemeyer

Carol Ethel Mennemeyer passed away at 7:16 p.m., Friday, June 11, 2010, at Phelps County Regional Hospital in Rolla, Missouri at the age of 67 years, 6 months and 8 days. Carol was born December 3, 1942 to the late Charles W. and Opal E. Minks in St. Clair, Missouri where she grew up and attended school. She was a 1961 graduate of Leonard High School, Leonard, Missouri. On August 10, 1963, Carol was united in marriage to Jerome “Jerry” Henry Mennemeyer in Troy, Missouri. They shared nearly 47 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Carol was a very loving wife to Jake and she cared for each of their children in a special way. She loved her sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and Evelyn Horine as much as her own children. Carol provided childcare for many children throughout her life. She had many heartaches and losses yet she had the love and joy of her family. In her spare time, Carol enjoyed sewing, drawing and cooking for her family and friends and she had a cutting personality. She liked taking care of her tropical fish. She was a charter member and former officer of the Troy VFW Post #8828. Her blue eyes will always be remembered by all. Carol will be missed by her family is glad to know that she is now home with Jesus and many dear friends and family members are with her now. Carol is survived by her husband: Jerome; five children: Lori Lynn Sweet (Joseph), St. Louis, Anna Marie LeBlanc (Roy), state of North Carolina, Michael Gerard Mennemeyer (Sherry Weber), Waynesville, Karen Dawn Schambach (Jimmy), Holts Summit and Evelyn Horine, St. Robert; three siblings: Fern Prince (Wally), Bethel, Glen Minks (Joyce), Shelbyville and Dale Minks (Karen), Union; 13 grandchildren: Andrew, Charles, Alex, Cassandra, January, Melinda, Gregory, Nichole, Katelynn, Nathan, Katrina, Joshua and Austin; 3 great grandchildren: Anna, Andrew, and Jasmin; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers and sisters-in-law, and friends. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by a very dear aunt and uncle, Nancy and Pierce Blake who loved her as a daughter. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, June 15, 2010 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father John Groner officiating. Organist Evelyn Horine led the congregation in singing “I Heard the Voice of Jesus” and “Amazing Grace”. Evelyn also sang “In the Garden” and “Ave Maria”. Serving as escorts were Andrew, Charles and Alex Mennemeyer, George and Dwayne Abbott and Nathan Weber. Burial followed in the Resurrection Cemetery of St. Robert. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Carol Mennemeyer and may be left at the funeral home.
