Charles Davis Wilson Jr.

Charles Davis Wilson, Jr., one of five children born to the late Charles Davis and Phoebe Ellen (Bellington) Wilson, Sr. was born on the family’s general livestock farm in Camden County near Richland, Missouri on July 7, 1935 and departed August 9, 2012 at the farm. He was 77 years of age. At a young age, Charles Davis was baptized in Sellars Creek. He attended Beulah Baptist Church and First Baptist Church in Richland. He was an active member of the First Southern Baptist Church in Waukegan, IL serving as church treasurer. Charles Davis attended school in Richland and graduated from Richland High School in 1955. In May 1955, he was united in marriage to Shirley Gean Rogers of Stoutland, MO. They made their home in Waukegan, IL where he was an electrician by trade. They raised four children together and later divorced. Charles Davis continued to make his home in Waukegan with many trips back to the family farm. Charles Davis loved his family very much. Special times were when they would share a meal together and spend time reminiscing on the farm. He especially enjoyed the annual Bellington Squirrel Hunt get together and the Wilson Reunion when he could attend. The family will cherish their memories of those times together. His pride and joy were his gas engines that he displayed at different events around the Midwest and Florida, even the Tri-County Fair in Richland a couple years. He was a member of the Farm Heritage Club in Lake County, IL. He was a regular morning visitor to McDonald’s in Waukegan where he visited with his friends and neighbors while enjoying a good cup of coffee, reading the paper and talking politics. He is survived by three children: Charles Davis (Angie) Wilson III of Phoenix, AZ, Deborah Jean Schneider of Cincinnati, OH and Marvin Dwaine (Jenny) Yoder Jr. of Stoutland, MO; three sisters: Shirley Sue (Gene) Edwards of Crocker, MO, Dona Beth Sippio of Loveland, CO, Peggy (Floyd) Beavens of Kansas City, MO and his special friend, Karen Hansen of Richland, MO. Also, eight grandchildren: Dolores Anne (Bob) Rabinowitz, Jamie Marie (Mark) Pearson, Kimberly Jean (Tyler Hymer) Schneider, Charles Davis (Gabby) Wilson IV, Briana Marie Wilson, Marvin Dwaine Yoder III, Dylan James Yoder and Kaitlyn Skye Yoder; seven great grandchildren: Robert Vernon Rabinowitz Jr., Ryan Vincent Rabinowitz, Matthew Roy Pearson, Andrew Lawrence Pearson, Cassidy Jean Pearson, Braiden Lucas Wilson and Shaw Wilson Hymer; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Charles Davis was preceded in death by one son Ronald Dean Wilson, one sister, Mary Ellen (Dale) Kiser. Memorial Services were held at 10:00 am Monday, August 13, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel, Richland, MO. Visitation was held at 9:00 am. Burial followed at Oaklawn Cemetery, Richland, MO. Services performed with Pastor Charles Roy Newell of Community Baptist Church, Lebanon, MO and Pastor Bob Lilly of First Baptist Church, Richland, MO officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace”, “When the Roll is Called Up Yonder”, “In the Garden” and “I’ll Meet You in the Morning” were played. Serving as escorts were Marvin Dwaine Yoder III, Dylan James Yoder, Robert Vernon Rabinowitz Jr., Ryan Vincent Rabinowitz and Charles Davis Wilson IV. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charles Davis Wilson to the Lake Ozark Hospice and may be left at the funeral home.
