Charles "Charlie" Brown

Charles “Charlie” Roscoe Brown, son of Willis Roscoe and Delphine (Long) Brown, was born January 2, 1950 in Crocker, Missouri. Charlie grew up in the Richland/Waynesville area and graduated from Richland High School in 1968. After graduation, Charlie moved Waynesville and began working for Dewey Wilson where he drove a wrecker and worked in the garage. He would later begin driving a cab for Gateway and City Cab companies and did so for 17 years. He also worked as a carpenter for the Union and helped build the Burger King on Fort Leonard Wood and also the prison in Kansas City, Kansas. After many years of working for different people, Charlie was able to start his own business as a locksmith. He enjoyed having his own business. On October 13, 1985, Charlie was united in marriage to Pauline Marcie Cloven at the Harmony Baptist Church of Waynesville. They shared over 24 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. In his spare time, Charlie enjoyed being outdoors while fishing and hunting and was always telling big stories about the ones that got away. He also liked to play free games, but especially Texas Hold Em’ Poker. Most importantly, he treasured those times that he could spend with his family and friends. Charlie passed away at 10:57 a.m., Monday, July 19, 2010, at his home at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 17 days. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Charlie leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Pauline; three children: Vivian Cobb of Laquey, James Jeffries of Waynesville and Sherrell Morrison (George) of Lebanon; his mother: Delphine Brown of Waynesville; two brothers: Ricky Brown (Rinette) of Buckhorn and Donald Brown of Waynesville; nine grandchildren: Jasmine, Jim, Cassie, and Mara Cobb, Amy, Brian, and Saraya Montgomery, James Glen Jeffries and Michael, Jennifer and Heather Rowley; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Charlie was preceded in death by his father: Willis Roscoe; one granddaughter: Amber Jeffries; and his aunt and uncle: Art and Evelyn Brown. A memorial gathering with family and friends was held from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 2010 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Charlie Brown and may be left at the funeral home.
