Charley "Chuck" Murray Lakey Jr.

Charley Murray Lakey, Jr., son of the late Charley Murray Lakey Sr. and Darlene Annette (Brewer) Lakey, was born in Springfield, Missouri. “Chuck,” as his family and friends called him, lived in Bodark, Missouri where he attended school; living there until age twenty. Chuck decided to move to Lake of the Ozarks but only briefly before settling into the Richland area where he lived until his passing on the evening of Thursday, December 4, 2025, at his home in Richland with his precious family by his side having attained the age of 56. Chuck met Marilyn, the love of his life in Town and Country in Richland where she worked. He said he would go in and place an order at the deli just to see Marilyn’s warm smile and hear her kind uplifting words. He said they seemed to just hit it off immediately. In his own words, Chuck said we were just smitten with one another. One day while opening his container of food, Chuck spotted a chocolate chip cookie Marilyn had carefully placed into his tray and this made Chuck smile. That little jester touched his heart, and it was then Chuck knew Marilyn was the one for him! Chuck loved the life he, Marilyn and their family had together. He loved her and those girls and couldn’t have handled this last chapter of his life without them. Chuck had made a profession of faith while attending his daughter, Savannah’s baptism at Eureka Baptist Church in Richland a couple of years back. Chuck attended church when his health would allow and deeply appreciated the love and prayers, he received from everyone there. He worked as a CNA for over twenty-five years however, it was not a job to Chuck. God blessed Chuck with a servant’s heart and loved the people he was entrusted to care for and they loved him! Chuck counted his day lost if he could not brighten someone’s day with some humor and chit-chats. He loved getting to know the person’s story while caring for them. During Chuck’s life he enjoyed fishing, riding horses, hunting, playing pool, driving down dirt roads with daughter, Savanna; the windows rolled down, or hiking by rivers searching for rocks, and teaching his girls to drive. The bright spot of Chuck’s day was when his family gathered back home in the evenings and would share with one another the events of their day. Chuck also said he cherished bedtime chats. His family were deeply important to him. Chuck stated, “They are my clan.” It was “that clan” that kept Chuck’s fight spirit going. Chuck had a bucket list wish, and it was to put on a six shooter and go on a long trail ride! He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Timothy Lakey, and four sisters. Chuck leaves behind to cherish his memory his deeply devoted, loving companion, Marilyn Ruth Folkert of their home; his children, Dustin “Kyle” Lakey (Kimberly) of Springfield, MO, Brandon Scott Lakey (formerly of Gravois Mills, MO) of the state of MN, Jaylin Folkert and Savanna McConnell both of Richland, MO; 5 grandchildren, Tessa, Joshua, Dalton, Janessa, and Jayden; one identical twin brother, William Lakey (Shirley) of Branson, MO; several nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Chuck enjoyed life and the brief time he had here upon this earth. He would tell you he was not a perfect man and had made his fair share of mistakes while here. However, he found forgiveness at the foot of the cross because of what the Savior did! “Jesus did” what Chuck could not do. Seek, and you will find. Ask, and you will receive, just as Chuck did when he asked Christ to come into his heart. Now our brother in Christ has found rest in the arms of God until we meet again.
