Daniel Joseph Larson

Daniel Joseph Larson was born on August 11, 1952, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the son of the late Fred J. Larson and Nona R. (Bodwell) Larson. During his childhood, Daniel and his family relocated to Waynesville, Missouri. He spent his formative years in Waynesville, where he graduated from Waynesville High School as part of the Class of 1970. Known for his strong work ethic, Daniel began his professional journey at Jonco-Diversified in Waynesville. He later established and operated his own business, Lazy “L” Woodworks, running it until the mid-1990s. After closing his business, Daniel worked as a contractor on Fort Leonard Wood. Eventually, he moved to Texas, where he worked with Twin Brother as an electrical contractor, contributing to the construction of new hotels. He retired from his career in 2018. Following his retirement, Daniel returned to Waynesville to be near his family. He deeply enjoyed spending time with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren, cherishing every moment. Each morning, he could be found walking at the Ark, and he loved fishing whenever the opportunity arose. Daniel’s faithful companion was his dog, Duke. Daniel was actively involved in his community. He was a member of the Lions Club and a founding member of the Buckhorn/Laquey club. Additionally, he served as a past member of the Laquey School Board and the Pulaski County Water District 1 of Laquey. At a young age, Daniel professed his faith at the Hazelgreen Methodist Church, where he was baptized. He entered his heavenly home on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, as a resident at Sunterra Springs Nursing Center in Springfield, Missouri. He was 73 years old. Daniel will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him. He leaves behind his two children, Rex Larson (Amber) and Joy Lynne Smith (Jimmy), both of Waynesville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Bo Sumner (Raine), Mary Becker (Shawn), Parker and Ryker Larson; two great-grandchildren, Adam Becker and Cora Sumner; two brothers, Ronnie Larson of Denver, CO, and David Larson of Thailand; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends. Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings: Larry Larson, Rose LaBeau, and Kathy Chenoweth. Though he may be gone from our sight, Daniel’s spirit will forever remain in our hearts. Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, March 23, 2026 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville, Missouri with Pastor Keith Carnahan officiating. The songs "Amazing Grace" and "In the Garden" were played. Serving as escorts were Bo Sumner, Rob LaBeau, Shawn Becker, Tim LaBeau, Jason Larson, and Robert Scott. Burial followed in the Hazelgreen Cemetery of Richland, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
