Dolores Kay Munsie

Dolores Kay Munsie, daughter of the late Delmar Pershing and Caroline Fowler, was born March 18, 1957 in Cheverly, Maryland where she grew up. In her teens the family moved to Florida where she graduated from high school. On August 19, 1992, Dolores was united in marriage to Steven John Munsie in Escondido, California. They shared over 24 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Due to Steven being in the military, Dolores and the family had the typical Army life, moving from station to station. Most of their time was spent in San Antonio, TX. The family moved to the St. Robert area in 1999 and where Dolores was able to focus all her energies as a homemaker and care provider for the family. Dolores was a full time mom and wife and took great pride in helping provide for her family. Some of her most loved jobs included customer service representative with a car dealership and dog groomer. In her spare time, Dolores loved being outdoors. You could find her either working in her yard or in her garden. She also loved rescuing animals and was a member of the ASPCA and the Humane Society. Dolores passed away Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017, in the Mercy Hospital of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of 59 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Dolores loved her family dearly and she leaves to cherish her memory, her husband, Steven of the home; two daughters, Susan Vasquez of Ft. McCoy, FL, and Betty Cruce of Crocker, MO; five grandchildren, Gabriel and Jade Gonzales, William Cruce, Jordan Donati, and Diego Vasquez; two sisters, Suzanne Meadows of Ocala, FL, and Ellen Fowler of San Antonio, TX; her mother-in-law, Margaret Terry of El Cajon, CA; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Services were held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Chris Hendrix officiating. Dr. Jim Hackworth, friend of the family, recalled his wonderful memories of Dolores. Soloist Zach Nickerson sang “Safe” and “Heaven’s Song”. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dolores Munsie and may be left at the funeral home.
