Donald Quenton "Fido" Myers

Donald Quenton “Fido” Myers passed away Friday, December 3, 2010, at his home near Stoutland, Missouri, at the age of 53 years, 2 months and 18 days. Son of Billia Louise (Radford) and Ivan L. Myers, Don was born September 19, 1957, in Lebanon, Missouri. Don grew up in the Stoutland area where he was a 1975 graduate of Stoutland High School. At the age of 12, Don professed his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and was baptized in the Gasconade River. He attended church in Stoutland, Berean, Linn Creek and the Cowboy Church in Dove. Don served his country in the U.S. Army from 1979 to 1985, attaining the rank of Specialist Four. During his service, he was awarded the Good Conduct Medal (2nd award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, Driver and Mechanic Badges with W and mechanics bar, and the Sharpshooter (M16 rifle) badge. Don was a co-owner of the Jerky Queen Beef Jerky Company. He and his partner started the business in Camdenton, and later moved it to Richland. He owned and operated the Tiger Den restaurant in Stoutland, and later was employed at the Osage Beach Wal-Mart. Don was a member of the local Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, fishing at the Lake of the Ozarks, and July 4th BBQ’s. Don never met a stranger, and struck up a conversation with everyone he met. He had a wonderful sense of humor and could always make you laugh. Don loved spending time with his family, and especially enjoyed dressing up as Santa’s helper. Don was dearly loved, and will be sadly missed by his mother: Louise Myers of Richland; four sons: Michael Peterson of Lynnwood, Washington, Paul Peterson (Shawna) of Lynnwood, Washington, Justin Cantrell of Camdenton and Eric Myers (Amber) of Camdenton; one daughter: Danielle Simpson of Denver, Colorado; one sister: Iva Nell Workman (Coy) of Richland; four brothers: Logan Bruce Myers (Linda) of Laquey, Thomas Kevin Myers of Lebanon, Michael Keith Myers of Waynesville and Charles “Mac” Myers, Sr. (Beth) of Richland; one brother-in-law: David Baldwin of Barnett, Missouri; a very special friend: Caye Lynn Myers; twelve grandchildren: Bailey, Johnny, Gracie, Parker, Carson, Hailey, Justice, Tori, Brendon, Brayden, Wesley and Amber; several nephews, nieces, cousins and other relatives and friends. Don was preceded in death by his father: Ivan L. Myers; his stepfather: Luther C. Myers; his sister, Melissa Baldwin; grandparents and great grandparents. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, December 10, 2010 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Arthur Gormley and Pastor David Kenyon officiating. Celise Harris and Judy Pierce performed "Go Rest High on that Mountain" and "Further Along". CD selections included "When I Get Where I Am Going", "Shoebox" and "Drive". Serving as escorts were Frank Nekola, Seth Myers, Jason Myers, Billy Stealy, Heath Davenport, Steve Henry,Ronnie Johnston and Beau McMahon. Honorary escort was Jamie Workman. Burial followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery with military honors provided by the United States Army, Ft. Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial Contributions can be made in memory of Donald Quenton Myers and be left at First State Bank of Richland or the Funeral Home.
