SGM (Ret) Edward Allen Walsh

Edward Allen Walsh, son of the late Geter Butler Walsh and Iris Adeline (McFadden) Walsh, was born July 5, 1955, in Ashland, Ohio where he grew up and attended school. While in high school, Ed met a young girl named Debra Sue Watson. They became high school sweethearts and were united in marriage on December 21, 1971, in Ashland when Ed was 16. At the age of 17, Ed enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his retirement in 1992 after 20 years of service. For his faithful service, Ed had attained the rank of Sergeant Major and earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Army Achievement Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Army Service Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal (6th Award), National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), NCO Professional Development Ribbon (4th), Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Oak Leaf Cluster), Overseas Service Ribbon (3), and M-16 Rifle (Expert). After retiring from the military, Ed continued serving his country as a civil service employee on Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri and retired in 2012. In his spare time, Ed enjoyed being outdoors. You could find him either fishing or working in the garden. He was an avid football fan, and he enjoyed watching a football game or his favorite television show, Gun Smoke. Ed was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Richland, Missouri. Ed loved his family. He was a good husband, father and an all-around loving person. He treasured the times that the family could spend together. Ed passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2025, in his home having attained the age of 69 years. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Debra Walsh of the home; two children: Stacey Scott (A’Dante) of Frisco, TX and Jason Walsh of Jefferson City, MO; two grandchildren: LaShai Jones (Roderick) of Salt Lake City, UT and Sade Wilson (Cedrick) of Plantation, FL; three great grandchildren: Ace, Cedrick, and Cyprus; father-in-law: Roger Keiser of Milan, OH; two brothers: Kirby Walsh (Julie) of Farmington, NM and Luther Walsh of Ashland, OH; one sister: Roxanne Walsh of Mountain City, TN; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Even though he is gone from our sight, Ed’s love for his family and commitment to his country will live on in our hearts forever. Graveside services with military honors were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 23, 2025 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, Missouri with military honors being provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
