Elsie Elaine Sprague

Elsie Elaine Sprague, daughter of the late Alfred “Neill” Walker and Myrtle I. (Mitchell) Nation, was born December 20, 1936 in Broadwater, Nebraska. As a young child, Elsie and her family moved to Homedale, Idaho where she graduated from high school. While working in Seattle, Washington for Boeing, Elsie met the love of her life, George Walter Sprague. They were united in marriage on February 10, 1961 and have shared over 53 years of marriage together. They were blessed with five children: Lynn, Jack, Jim, Anna and Tom. Elsie was a very gifted person. She played the pump organ and while in high school, she played the tenor sax. She was also an accomplished portrait artist. She also served as a street minister in Wichita, Kansas for a time. Elsie was an avid reader and she also enjoyed working in her garden. Most importantly, she treasured spending time with her family and friends and studying her bible. Elsie passed away at 9:17 p.m. Friday, September 5, 2014 in the Lake Regional Medical Center of Osage Beach, Missouri having attained the age of 77 years, 8 months and 16 days. Elsie leaves to cherish her memory, her husband: George Sprague of Richland, MO; five children: Lynn May of Richland, MO, Jack Sprague (Laura) of Boise, ID, Jim Sprague (Cheryl) of Richland, MO, Anna Jones (David) of Flower Mound, TX and Tom Sprague (Ruth) of Eldorado, KS; one brother: Jim Walker (Rosemary) of Colorado Springs, CO; one sister: Mary Kirstine (Maynard) of Garden Valley, ID; one step sister: Tressa Hiat of Marsing, ID; 21 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Elsie was preceded in death by two brothers: Bruce and John Walker; and one sister: Lois Clements. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, September 12, 2014 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville with Minister Stephen Sprague officiating. The songs “Yahweh” and “In the Garden” were sung and played by David Jones and Lynn May. Serving as escorts were Jim Sprague, Thomas Sprague, Jeff Casto, David Jones, Daniel Sprague, Ben Jones and Andrew Sprague. Burial followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
