Emmett Brumley Jr.

Emmett Brumley, Jr., son of the late Emmett Brumley, Sr. and Lela Viola (Pummill) Brumley, was born February 21, 1936, in Iberia, Missouri. Shortly after his birth, Emmett and his family moved to Michigan for a few years before moving back to the Crocker, Missouri area when Emmett was 7-8 years of age. He began attending Crocker Elementary School and graduated from Crocker High School with the Class of 1954. Emmett met a young lady by the name of Patsy Marie Walters. They began dating and were united in marriage on November 11, 1955, in Crocker, Missouri at the “Old Christian Church”. They shared over 69 years of marriage together and were blessed with two children: Melinda and Mark. Emmett took great pride in providing for his family. He served as a wire communications cable splicer for the Directorate of Communications and Electronics on Fort Leonard Wood for approximately 30 years. In his spare time, Emmett enjoyed being outdoors; you could find him either camping, fishing, hunting or working in his garden (which he gave half of it away to his neighbors and friends). He loved traveling with classmates and friends and back in their younger days, you could find him and Patsy playing many a card games with friends. Early in his life, Emmett made an important decision. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior and was baptized on August 31, 1948. His faith helped him throughout the rest of his life through some of the darkest times in his life and some of the happiest times as well. He and Patsy were faithful members of the Crocker Christian Church and were very involved in the different activities. You could find them helping with Journey to Bethlehem and one thing he thoroughly enjoyed doing with the church was going to Springfield Cardinal baseball games. Emmett went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 17, 2024, in his home in Crocker having attained the age of 88 years of age. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Emmett leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Patsy Brumley of the home; one daughter: Melinda Werths (K.C.) of Richland, MO; five grandchildren: Aaron Kelley of Lebanon, IL, Amanda Nelson (Aaron) of Proctor, MN, and Zayden Brumley, Ethan Brumley and Lilly Brumley, all of Nixa, MO; one great grandchild: Easton Kelley; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. In addition to his parents, Emmett was preceded in death by his son, Mark Brumley and sister Mary Etta Sharp. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, November 21, 2024 in the Crocker Christian Church of Crocker, Missouri with Pastor Terry Harmon officiating. The songs "Go Rest High on that Mountain" by Vince Gill, "When I Get Where I'm Going" by Brad Paisley & Dolly Parton, and "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me were played. Soloist Becky Lercher sang "Celebrate Me Home". Inurnment was held in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery of Crocker, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Emmett Brumley and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
