Ermalee Calvo

Ermalee Calvo departed this life January 29, 2011, at the Shawnee Mission Medical Center, Shawnee, Kansas, at the age of 81 years, 5 months and 19 days. Ermalee was born on August 10, 1929 in Deepwater, Missouri. She was the second of five children born to the union of the late Ethel Irene (Hinkle) and Thomas Jackson Duvall. Ermalee leaves to cherish her memory, daughter: Susie Elliott, her husband, Tom, and their children, Kathy Turner and her husband, Jamie, and their daughter, Seren; Tommy Elliott and his wife, Myla, and their daughter, Darci; Nathan Elliott and his wife, Crystal, and their children, Kylan, Kole and Kiera; and Leah Howell and her husband, Austin, and their little one on the way; son: Greg Calvo, his wife, Sylvia, and their children: Vince, Natalie and Victor; and daughter: Michelle Textor, her husband, Matt, and their children, Elie and Will. Also surviving are her brothers: Irvin Duvall, Bobby Joe Duvall and Tom Duvall; the children’s father: Vicenté Calvo; several nieces, nephews, in-laws, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Ermalee was preceded in death by one sister: Ethelyn Shelton. Ermalee grew up in Lowry City. Her family moved to Lebanon when Ermalee was a teenager and she attended Lebanon High School. Ermalee spent most of her working years in a civil service position as a systems analyst at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Ft. Leonard Wood. While working on post, Ermalee furthered her education, attending various vocational classes. Ermalee was a wonderful cook, made beautiful quilts to share with her family and friends, and enjoyed singing and playing her guitar. She put great effort into her large vegetable and flower gardens. But Ermalee’s greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Marc Magana officiating. Ermalee’s granddaughter, Kathy Turner, sang “Amazing Grace” and Pianist David Lawson accompanied Flutist Tom Elliott as he played “It Is Well With My Soul”. Burial will be held at a later date in Lowry City, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ermalee Calvo to the American Diabetes Association and may be left at the funeral home.
