Felipa "Cristy" Bonilla

Felipa “Cristy” Bonilla, daughter of the late Alberto Dieguez and Mercedez (Sanchez) Dieguez, was born August 23, 1930 in San Lucas, Guatemala where she grew up and attended school. In October 1954, Cristy was united in marriage to Carlos Bonilla. They shared 60 years of marriage together before he preceded her in death in 2013. They were blessed with two daughters: Angie and Marycarmen, one son: Carlos, and many wonderful memories. In 1975, Cristy, Carlos and their family moved to Los Angeles where she worked as a seamstress in the clothing designer industry. She was very gifted in this area and enjoyed her job. In her spare time, her creativity spilled over in her love of flowers. She loved having beauty around her, whether it was clothing or flowers. In 2015, Cristy moved to Waynesville, Missouri to be near her daughter, Angie. Cristy loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with them as much as possible. She had a happy disposition and was a joy to be around. She was a giving and caring individual and would help anyone that she could. Cristy passed away Friday, October 14, 2022, in Mercy Hospital in Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of 92 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. She is survived by her two daughters, Angie Bonilla of Waynesville, MO and Marycarmen Moran of Los Angeles, CA; six grandchildren, Alex (wife, Susie) of Waynesville, MO, Karla (husband, Dan) of St. Robert, MO, Christian (wife, Sandy) of Grand Prairie, TX, Allan (wife, Sohayra) of Los Angeles, CA, Elsa (husband, Cameron) of Los Angeles, CA, and Tony of Los Angeles, CA; twenty-four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Carlos Diequez of Los Angeles, CA and Paulo Dieguez of Guatemala; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Cristy was preceded in death by one son: Carlos Alberto Bonilla; four brothers, and one sister. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 22, 2022 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with PAstor John Shaw officiating. The songs "Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)" and "Tu Estas Aqui" were played. Several family members recalled their wonderful memories of Cristy. Serving as escorts were Dan Cordova, Andy Dubon, Alex Dubon, Joseph Cordova, Christian Dubon, Max Cordova, and Karla Dubon. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville. Memorial contributions can be made in memory of Cristy Bonilla, and may be left at the funeral home.
