Francis Junior Hobbs

Francis Junior Hobbs, son of the late Henry Francis Hobbs and Artie Lucille (Short) Hobbs, was born in Richland, Missouri on December 19, 1934, where he attended school and lived out his entire life until the morning of Tuesday, July 14, 2026. Francis passed away surrounded by his loving family having reached the age of 91. Francis has a new home now, Heaven! The man who referred to himself as a home town boy now walks the streets of gold with family and friends who’ve gone on before him. Richland’s Church of Christ is where Francis was a beloved member for many years, and he always enjoyed visiting with his friends and neighbors there. Francis was adventurous and could be seen almost everywhere in and out of the communities. He never met a stranger, and you never had to wonder what he was thinking because he would tell you exactly what was on his mind. He could carry on a conversation with anyone, anywhere. Francis liked auctioneering, and regularly attended swap meets, AQHA Showmen events, and was a welcomed regular at the Buckhorn gas station; where he was an avid chicken leg eater. Francis bragged about creating the bloodline for his beagles. Francis did many things in life, he began his working years at the International Shoe Company, pulled cars for area car dealers, then went on to Appleby Boat Company as a welder for twelve years before deciding to become his own boss and became a Ferrier. Francis loved being outdoors, trail rides, buying and selling horses. He broke and trained horses for over fifty-five years. Francis was always willing and happy to teach future generations the Ferrier business. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Herbert Eugene Hobbs, and one son, Rickey Hobbs. Francis leaves behind to cherish his memory, two children, Francis Eugene “Gene” Hobbs of Camdenton, MO, Holly Hobbs (Travis) of Richland, MO; his daughter-in-law, Robin Hobbs of Richland, MO; nine grandchildren, his devoted grandson Ben (Ashly), whom he raised with love, guidance, and unwavering support; Michael (Wendy), Jennifer, Russell (Danielle), Mikenna (Nathan), Tristin (Harleejo), Clayton (Naomi), Haydenn and Talon; ten great-grandchildren, Quentin, Ethan, Taylor, Leland, Logan, Haylee, Nadia, Alaina, Tucker, Ty, & Bryar, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. There are people in life who impact us in many ways. Francis walked into a room with his signature overall pantleg in one of his cowboy boots ready to greet someone with a smile, a handshake, or a pat on the back. His happy-go-lucky nature could draw you in as he shared one of his tales, or a joke. We who remain on this earth will cherish the love and friendship Francis offered to those around him. His legacy will live on through the family he treasured until we meet again Services were held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, July 17, 2026, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Deacon, Robert “Max” Thornsberry, Jr., officiating. Songs included “Amazing Grace,” and “When I get to Heaven by Alan Jackson and “Cowgirls Don’t Cry” by Brooks and Dunn. Serving as escorts were Boyd Hendrix, Junior Starnes, Timmy Luttrell, John Smith, Robert Smith, and Jimmy Smith. Honorary escorts included Max Thornsberry, Bob Williams, Sam Luttrell, Randall Pemberton, Donald Pemberton and Jerry Pemberton. Burial followed in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland, MO. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
