Frank Joseph Bogad

Frank Joseph Bogad, son of Michael and Emma Bogad was born January 30, 1922 in St. Louis, Missouri. “Frankie” as he was best known to his family and friends was baptized as an infant into the Holy Catholic Church . He attended school and worked in the family plastering business “Bogad Plastering” all through his youth. Frankie entered the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. What he lacked in size, he made up in desire and dedication to serve his country. Many times he stated that they had to “stretch him to get him in.” He was so very proud of his military service during the War. He remained a Patroit until the very end. As a young man, Frankie was fortunate to meet the love of his life Mabel Louise “Bobbie” (Croy). They courted while in St. Louis, beginning several of their date with Frankie picking up Bobbie on his Harley Motorcycle. They enjoyed each others company and became inseparable as the years passed. They were united in marriage on June 16, 1951 in St. Pias Catholic Church, St. Louis, Missouri. Bobbie preceded Frank in death on December 5, 2003. Frankie quest for opportunity for his family brought the Bogad’s to St. Robert in 1955. He became the owner/operator of Tulane Trailer Court which he continued to operate until his passing. Frankie was a mainstay and a faithful servant to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. In the early years Frankie would fire up the old boiler in the Church’s original location before Mass. He later was instrumental in the selection of the current location of the Church and worked with Father Walsh to develop and construct Resurrection Cemetery. Frankie continued his service to the Church in various capacities as long as his health allowed. Frankie was proud of his service with the Knights of Columbus. He attained his 3rd and 4th Degrees and held the office of Financial Secretary for 30 continuous years. Upon making his 4th degree he recalls marching as a group through the streets of St. Louis to the Cathedral. Frankie was also a life member of the American Legion Post 331 and Lion’s Club. Frankie was always looking for ways to serve his community. He was deputized by Sherriff Dorsey Rayl in 1960. He served as a Deputy Sherriff through four different sheriffs’ and over 50 years. He was also a long-time St. Robert City Alderman representing Ward 1. He was very instrumental in the business attraction and housing development that has been on going for the past several years in the City of St. Robert. Frankie passed from this life to be reunited with his wife Bobbie the morning of June 14, 2011 at his home in Tulane Trailer Court at the age of 89 years. He will always remain greatly admired and never forgotten by all that knew and loved him. He is survived by several Nieces and Nephews; his church family and many, many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; wife Bobbie; and brother John. Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church with Father John Groner officiating. Music was provided by Evelyn Horine and serving as escorts were the 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus. Burial with military honors followed in the Resurrection Cemetery of St. Robert. Honors were provided by the United States Air Force of Whiteman Air Force Base. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory. Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church Fellowship Hall. Contributions can be left at the church or funeral home.
