Geneva Mae Treat

Geneva Mae Treat, daughter of Charles E. Thompson and Maudie Ruth (Mears) Thompson was born in Yellville, Arkansas on May 10, 1929. Geneva was raised in Arkansas where she attended grade school in Yellville and high school in Leslie. On November 6, 1947, in Springfield, Missouri, Geneva was united in marriage to Loy Leo Treat. They shared nearly 64 years of marriage and one loving daughter, Lanae. Geneva worked for the Ruff’s Market in Marshall, Arkansas prior to the family moving to the Waynesville/St. Robert area in 1962. Geneva was employed by Dr. Carl Larsen as a Dispensing Optician for several years. She took great pride in her work and enjoyed visiting with their patients and spending time with her co-workers. Geneva enjoyed her family greatly, she loved the times that family gathered for holidays at Lanae and Jerry’s home in Strafford. She cherished her two granddaughters, Jerra and Julie. Geneva had a special attraction for animals. She loved their unconditional love and cared for many throughout her years. Geneva and Loy were members of the Jesus Christ Church of Latter Day Saints in St. Robert, Missouri. Geneva departed this life at 1:25 p.m., Saturday, September 3, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Strafford. surrounded by many members of her loving family. She will be greatly missed, but the memories she helped to create will be with her family forever. She is survived by her husband: Loy Treat of St. Robert; one daughter: Lanae Gillespie (Jerry) of Strafford, MO; two granddaughters: Jerra Minning (Jason) and Julie Thornton (Tyler); four great grandchildren; two brothers: James Edward Thompson and Charles A. Thompson (Janis) both of Waynesville, MO; one sister: Carolyn Sue Savage of Nixa, MO; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Geneva is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Maudie Ruth Thompson; two brothers: Kenneth Lee Thompson and Freddie Ray Thompson; a sister-in-law, Harla Thompson and a brother-in-law, Jack Savage. A memorial service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, September 6, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Bishop Herman Blau officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Amazing Grace” and “Serenaded By Angels”.
