Geraldine Wilson

Geraldine Wilson, daughter of the late Harold and Ruth (Capehart) Blades, was born July 25, 1939, in Harrisburg, Illinois; and went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 7, 2024, surrounded by her loving caretakers while in the Richland Care Center of Richland, Missouri, having attained the age of eighty-four. On February 9, 1978, Geraldine married Floyd “Tick” Wilson in Lebanon, Missouri. They shared over twenty-seven precious years together before his passing, March 21, 2005. They shared many happy years and made lasting memories that Geraldine kept tucked away in her heart to sustain her throughout the remainder of her life without her beloved husband and best friend. In her early years, Geraldine enjoyed cooking, and taking care of her home. She loved sewing, crocheting, working in her yard, flower beds, and vegetable garden. Geraldine worked at the Lee Factory for a few years, and later in the early nineties, began working the night shift at the Care Center in Richland as a devoted CAN for many years. She was kind and enjoyed caring for people. Geraldine was a hard worker and believed in doing what needed to be done. On October 6, 2016, Geraldine became one of the residents she had cared for in that same Care Center. Geraldine had no issue sharing with her caregivers what she expected either! She enjoyed coming out to the hall for her daily snacks, potato ships being her favorite and Geraldine like joking around with the staff. She loved, and appreciated each one, and considered them family. Geraldine is preceded by her parents, beloved husband Floyd “Tick” Wilson, two step-children, Jeffery Wilson, and Sharon Dismang. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, several nieces, nephews, a host of special caregivers, and friends. When you remember Ms. Geraldine, remember her with a smile. Remember her kind and loving ways. She was a faithful friend who considered it a joy to help others in need; even when times were tough for her. Geraldine kept on going, wanting to bring comfort to others, making them feel deeply loved. She was onery, a jokester, and a bit of a pistol at times! However, these are just a few of the reasons why Geraldine will always be fondly remembered and greatly loved until we see her again. Geraldine's family, the Good Shepherd Hospice Staff , special friends, loving caregivers, and staff from the Richland Care Center gathered to show their love for Geraldine during her memorial service held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, 2024, in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Hospice Chaplain Melanie Wilke officiating. Soloist, Scarlett Wolcott Barth sang “Amazing Grace” and Soloist/Guitarist, Mitch Shields sang “The Old Rugged Cross.” Inurnment will be held at a later date in the Crossroads Cemetery near Falcon, Missouri. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
