Helen Lavon Crisp

HHelen Lavon Crisp, daughter of Hugh E. and Osa Ola (Dodson) Henslee, was born March 27, 1937, near Hartville, Missouri. She departed this life Friday, November 10, 2017, in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, at the age of eighty years, seven months and thirteen days. On June 25, 1955, she was united in marriage to Ervin Ermin Crisp, and to this union a daughter and three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ervin on May 29, 2001; and her son, Ricky Allen Crisp, on October 3, 2015. Helen is survived by her daughter, Carlene Carriger of Hartville, Missouri; two sons, Marvin Crisp and Allen Crisp and his wife, Debbi, all of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Summer Crisp, Anthony Carriger and wife, Maureen, Damon Crisp and Tarah Bullaro and husband, Ryan; four great-grandchildren, Brekyn, Lydia, and Dayne Carriger, and Levi Bullaro; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and reared on Pea Ridge in the Hartville area, where she attended school. After she and Ervin were married they continued to make their home in Wright County until moving to Springfield many years ago. Throughout her life she was a homemaker to her family, did baby sitting in her home, and in earlier years had worked at the shoe factory in Mansfield. In her spare time she enjoyed shopping, traveling, cooking for her family, and visiting with others. Helen was a devoted wife and mother to her family, and was a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her. We celebrate her life and will treasure the memories she created for all who knew her. She will live on in our hearts forever. Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 in the Steele Memorial Cemetery of Hartville, Missouri with Rev. Jeff Ward officiating. Soloist Robin Widner sang “Amazing Grace”. Serving as escorts were Wallace Burns, Anthony Carriger, Larry Carriger, Damon Crisp, Larry Teel, Adam Widner and Charles Williams. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. A memorial has been established in memory of Helen Crisp, and contributions may be left at the funeral home, or mailed to P.O. Box 474, Waynesville, MO 65583.
