Helen Ardella Pharris

Helen Ardella Pharris, daughter of the late Luther Casper and Lois Lorenal (Herbertson) Likes, was born April 1, 1930 in Idaho Falls, Idaho. She grew up and attended school in Idaho. While living in Idaho, Helen met the love of her life on a blind date. His name was Tiney Oscar Pharris. They were married on October 30, 1948 in Pocatello, Idaho. They shared over 61 years of marriage together and were blessed with eight children: Robert Dale, Larry Oscar, Edith May, Linda Sue, Jeffrey Alan, Rose Marie, Lori Lee and Brittany Ann. Due to Tiney being in the military, Helen and the family moved several times to various places. They eventually settled in the Fort Leonard Wood area where Helen raised her family. In her spare time, Helen enjoyed knitting and quilting. She especially loved spending time outside in her flower beds and she was known for having some of the most beautiful beds around. Most importantly, she treasured the times spent with her family because that was the most important thing to her. She will certainly be missed, by all those that knew and loved her. Helen leaves to cherish her memory her six children: Robert Dale Pharris of Crocker, MO, Larry Oscar Pharris of Waco, TX, Edith May Dittman of Kaiser, MO, Linda Sue McKinnon of Buckhorn, MO, Jeffery Alan Pharris of Eldon, MO and Brittany Ann Pharris of St. Robert, MO; one sister: Peaches Florence Likes of Pocatello, ID; 9 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Tiney Pharris (2010); two daughters: Rose Marie Pharris (2009) and Lori Lee Pharris (1978); two grandsons: Michael Pharris (2010) and Charlie Bishop; two brothers: Luther and Raymond Likes; and three sisters: Mille Ettie McGary, Elsie Corrine Likes and Roselyn Likes. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. James Desjardin officiating. The songs “Sweet By and By”, “Momma’s A Rock” and “When the Roll Is Called Up Yonder” were played. Serving as escorts were Jeff Pharris, Larry Pharris, Micky Still, James Dittman, Chris Still, Larry Roemer, Simon Noad and Paul Dittman. Burial followed in the Main Post Cemetery of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Helen Pharris and may be left at the funeral home.
