Irene Baker

Irene Baker, daughter of the late William and Annie (Stugman) Pearsall, was born September 20, 1925 in Amityville, New York where she grew up and attended school. While living in New York, Irene worked for the USO and for the United States Postal Service. On January 1, 1964, Irene was united in marriage to Roy Lee Baker in Vienna, Missouri. They shared over 45 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Irene, for the most of her life, was a stay at home mom and wife and enjoyed providing for her family. She was very gifted with her hands and would crochet beautiful afghans that she would give to her family and friends. She enjoyed working puzzles, reading different types of books and watching television. She was a very good cook and loved to try different recipes. She enjoyed cooking for her family. Most importantly she treasured the times that she spent with her family and friends. Irene was a faithful member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was always helping any way she could with different organizations and events at the church. Irene went home to be with her Lord at 1:50 A.M. Saturday, May 2, 2009 in the University of Missouri Hospital, Columbia, Missouri at the age of 83 years. Irene leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Roy Lee Baker, Dixon, MO; three children: James Brown, Montreal, MO, Ida Bruns, Winchester, TN and George Brown, Dixon, MO; one sister: Betty Roche; one brother: Bill Pearsall; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Irene was preceded in death by her sons: Thomas Brown and William Raleigh Brown. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, May 5, 2009 in the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Robert, Missouri with Rev. Richard Anderegg and Rev. Pat Runk officiating. Organist Mary Jones accompanied the congregation as they sang “Be Still My Soul”, “For Me to Live is Jesus” and “I Know that My Redeemer Lives”. Serving as escorts were Jerry Driscoll, Dan Boorom, Keith Kubiniski, Fred Tripp, Mary Smith, Helen Livingston and Mary Jones. Burial followed in the Seaton Cemetery near Dixon, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Irene Baker to the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory.
