Irma F. Blas

Irma F. Blas, daughter of the late Burnhard and Gretel Friedrich, was born October 27, 1935 in Fürth Bavaraia, Germany. She passed away at 7:14 a.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011 in the St. John’s Regional Medical Center of Springfield, Missouri. She had attained the age of 75 years, 7 months, and 29 days. As a young girl, Irma attended grade school in Fürth/Bay, Germany from 1942 – 1950 and then attended trade school from 1950-1953. On January 21, 1957, Irma married the love of her life, Pedro Sablan Blas in Nürnberg, Germany. They were blessed with eight children: Johnny Sr., Frankie, Victoria, Evelyn, Tom, Renate, Melanie, and Ben. Irma stayed at home raising the children most of her life. She enjoyed taking care of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. They were the apple of her eye. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors while working in her gardens, fishing, and swimming. She was very talented with knitting and loved making things for family and friends. She was an avid animal lover especially her cats and she enjoyed feeding the wildlife and watching them. She will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Irma leaves to cherish her memory eight children: Johnny A. Blas, Sr. (Connie) of Springfield, MO, Frankie Blas (Linda) of Conroe, TX, Victoria Halick (Keith) of Springfield, MO, Evelyn Koval (Mark Krapas) of Woodinville, WA, Tom Blas (Teresa) of Radcliffe, KY, Renate Blas (Tina) of College Station, TX, Melanie Frye (Robert) of Waynesville, MO and Ben Blas (Francis) of Waynesville, MO; 16 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Irma is preceded in death by her husband and parents. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 30, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. Christopher Hendrix officiating. The songs “It’s Only Make Believe”, “If I Die Young” and “Edleweiss” was played. Serving as escorts were Tom, Frankie, Ben and Johnny Blas and Sean Mitch and DeMoe Ownby. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Irma Blas and may be left at the funeral home.
