MSG (Ret) James Harold Williamson

MSG (Ret) James Harold Williamson, son of the late Ivan and Henrietta (Pyle) Williamson, was born September 25, 1938 in Tell City, Indiana where he grew up and attended school. On August 31, 1954, James entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his retirement on November 1, 1974. He had attained the rank of Master Sergeant and earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Presidential Unit Citation, Combat Infantry Badge, Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross Unit Citation, Purple Heart with Oak Leaf Cluster, Vietnam Service Medal, Bronze Star Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal w/60 Device, Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), 6 Overseas Service Bars, Air Medal, along with several other awards. James was united in marriage to the love of his life, Billie Jo Burgess. They shared many years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Kathy, Anna and James, Jr. After retiring from the military, James worked at Metropolitan Insurance Agency, West Side computers, Hiland Dairy Distributor, substitute teacher and served as a volunteer for the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Department. In his spare time, James enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was fishing or farming. He also collected guns and liked to paint. Most importantly, he treasured the times spent with his family and friends, especially the grandchildren. James was a member of the Shriners, past President of the Chamber of Commerce of St. Robert and also Past Commander of the Disabled American Veterans Post. James passed away at 12:19 a.m. Monday, December 17, 2012 in the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital of Columbia, Missouri having attained the age of 74 years. James will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved him. James leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife: Billie Jo Williamson of the home; two daughters: Kathy Lynn Mullihan (Ray), and Anna Marie Brayman (Michael); one sister: Harriet Sue Williamson; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one son, SGT James H. Williamson, Jr.
