Jaunita Mae Langston

Jaunita Mae Langston, 88, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, August 17, 2016 in her daughter’s home in Zephyrhills, Florida. Jaunita was born January 11, 1928 in Tavern Township, Missouri, the daughter of the late Leonard and Marie (Philbrick) Hedrick. Her husband, Woodrow W. Langston, preceded her in death. Surviving are daughter: Beverly Langston of Zephyrhills, FL; two sons: Ron Church and wife Gayle of Bothell, WA and Don Church and wife Rhonda of Spokane, WA; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; three sisters: Betty Graves, Pauline Long and Geraldean Thornsberry, all of Crocker, MO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She also leaves Tamara Cribbs, her loving caregiver who made it possible to keep Jaunita at home until her passing. Jaunita grew up in the Crocker, Missouri area. As a child she made a profession of faith and began a life-long journey of following Jesus Christ. She attended Crocker Assembly of God where she taught Sunday School and was a Missionette Leader for many years. Jaunita was hard working and took great pride in caring for her family. She worked for many years as an Avon Representative. Jaunita loved children and enjoyed sharing her faith with them. Throughout the years she provided a loving home environment for kids while their parents worked. Many children considered Jaunita as “grandma”. Jaunita moved to Springfield, Missouri when Beverly began college. While in Springfield, Jaunita joined Oak Grove Assembly of God in 1979. As Beverly’s jobs took her to Virginia, Georgia and Florida, Jaunita traveled with her during the winter months. In recent years, she lived with Beverly in Zephryhills, Florida, due to declining health. Jaunita’s first love was Jesus and her family. She loved listening to Gospel music, especially listening and watching Gaither Homecoming videos. She enjoyed doing crafts, planting and caring for her flowers and loved watching birds. She liked to play games, especially putt putt golf and you would really become a fast friend if you served her strawberry ice cream. She will be remembered for her ability to love and be a second mother to many people. Her home was often the gathering place for many. She always liked to cook and be around people. Even though her earthly family and friends will miss her dearly, we know she is rejoicing in her heavenly home. Meet you in heaven, mom! Services were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 27, 2016 in the Crocker Assembly of God Church of Crocker, Missouri with Pastor Chip Sanders officiating. The songs “When Heaven’s Joy Is Mine” by the Hoppers and “Oh What A Moment” by Squire Parsons was played. Serving as escorts were Danny Graves, David Graves, C. Joe Thornsberry, Jerry Thornsberry, Mike Cranor, Brad Cranor and Mike Cokeley. Serving as honorary escort was Charley Tingle. Burial followed in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery of Crocker, Missouri.
