Jerry Wayne Miller

OBITUARY Jerry Wayne Miller, son of the late Floyde Vaughn Miller and Marguerite (Chamberlain) Miller, was born June 17, 1946, in Springfield, Missouri. As a young boy, Jerry grew up in Green Valley, Illinois where he attended school and graduated from Green Valley High School. Shortly after graduating from high school, Jerry began working at Vogels Inc. in Pekin, Illinois and remained there for 10 years before moving to Missouri. After moving to Missouri, he began working at the IGA Grocery in St. Robert as a much cutter and produce manager and served the community in that capacity for 26 years. After retiring from IGA, Jerry began working for Ramey’s in Lebanon for 8 years, then Wal-Mart in Lebanon for 5 years and then retired from Price Cutter in Waynesville. On May 20, 1975, Jerry was united in marriage to Thelma Elizabeth Martin in Miami, Oklahoma. They shared over 48 years of marriage together and at the time of their union, Jerry gained a son, Robert. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed being outdoors with his quarter horses. He loved every process of raising a great horse; from breeding, caring for them as they grew and then showing them at various events and competitions. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren, and would take them around the horses as much as possible. Jerry passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2025, in the Golden Living Center in St. James, Missouri having attained the age of 78 years. He will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, his step-son: Robert Whitker (Rita) of Cuba, MO; his sister: Patricia Martin (Richard) of Green Valley, IL; four step-grandchildren: Matthew Chaplman, Damian Chapman, Jeffrey Chapman, and Andrea Kumur; and four step-great-grandchildren: Nathaniel, Sheley, Dakota, and Priya; a number of nieces and nephew; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his wife: Thelma Miller (2023), and one brother: Floyde Vaughn Miller, Jr. Even though he is gone from our sight, Jerry’s spirit will live on in our hearts forever. DEATH ANNOUNCEMENT Jerry Wayne Miller, age 78, of Richland, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2025, in the Golden Living Center in St. James, MO. Funeral services will be held at (Noon)12:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 10, 2025, in Memorial Chapel of Richland. Burial will follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery, in Richland under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Visitation will be Tuesday from 11 a.m. until service time at 12 Noon in Memorial Chapel. He is survived by his step-son, Robert Whitker (Rita) of Cuba, MO; his sister, Patricia Martin (Richard) of Green Valley, IL; four step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephew; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Contributions in memory of Jerry Miller can be made and left at the funeral home.
