John William Leuthen

John William Leuthen, son of James Joseph Leuthen and Dorothy Marie (Lucas) Leuthen, was born November 4, 1959, in North Kansas City, Missouri. John began attending school in North Kansas City in kindergarten and did so until the 3rd grade. In 1968, he and his family moved to the Dixon, Missouri area and John began attending the Waynesville R-VI School District from the 4th grade until he graduated from high school with the Class of 1978. At an early age, John began his working career. He worked at a country store market in the Devil’s Elbow, Missouri area as a butcher before becoming an employee with Keeling and Son’s on the Ft. Wood Spur as a mechanic. He spent 20 years at Keeling and Sons before he began working on Fort Leonard Wood at D.O.M. as a mechanic and retired just a year and a half ago. In his spare time, John loved being outdoors. You could find him either camping, fishing, hunting, or just enjoying a boat ride. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends on special occasions and the one thing that brought him more joy was spending time with his daughter, Heather, who he loved dearly. During the last few months, John was blessed to have Barbara Becker in his life. They were able to spend a lot of time together…going fishing, boating, and camping at Pomme de Terre Lake this past summer. She was with him 24/7 during the last six weeks, taking care of him and was a Godsend to his family. John and Barbara had known each other most of their lives, but the last few months was like “the end of their love story”. John was a member of the Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church of St. Robert, Missouri. He went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in his home following a courageous battle with cancer and had attained the age of 65 years. John leaves to cherish his memory, his daughter: Heather Leuthen of Springfield, MO; his sister: Cheryl Teague and husband, Richard of Waynesville, MO; his brother: Mike Leuthen and wife, Debby of Pittsburg, MO; his significant other: Barbara Becker of Crocker, MO; several nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his oldest sibling: Jimmy Joe Leuthen. Even though he is gone from our sight, John’s spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Celebration of Life services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025 at the Don Mathis Farm near Flat, MO. Please bring covered dish and lawn chairs. Directions as follows: Take I-44 East to J Hwy Exit. Take J Hwy to M Hwy (left turn to 23746 County Rd. 7630...Left side of road on sharp curve). Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of John Leuthen and may be left at the Memorial Chapel & Crematory.
