Jose Dano Hipolito

Jose Dano Hipolito was born March 19, 1923 in the Philipines. He grew up on Mactan Island in Lapu-Lapu City, Philippines. Jose was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church and practiced his faith until his passing. Jose was an adventurous man and in 1963, he joined the Merchant Marines where he spent the next 30 years. Shortly after joining, he was assigned to a port in DahNang, Vietnam where he was stationed until the fall of Saigon. His lifelong port was in New Orleans, Louisiana. In his spare time, he loved to work with cars and anything mechanical. In 1946, Jose moved to Guam. He worked as a welder and as a body and fender technician. Jose was a member of the Richland Masonic Lodge #385 and a lifetime member of the Seafarer’s International Union. Jose passed away Monday, April 22, 2013 in the Sunset Village of the Ozarks of St. Robert, Missouri having attained the age of 90 years. He will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved him. Jose leaves to cherish his memory three children: Tina Nering (Brian) of Waynesville, MO, Esther Tanguileg of Killeen, TX and Al Hipolito of Gatesville, TX; nine grandchildren: Shirley Emsley of Dixon, MO, April Emsley-Baker of Rockwall, TX, Shawn Jackson of Grand Prairie, TX, Lawrence Woodland of Dallas, TX, Robert Tanguileg of Killeen, TX, Jennifer Tanguileg of Dededo, Guam, Jesus Tanguileg, Jr. of Dededo, Guam, Elisha Muniz of Dallas, TX and David Hipolito of Grand Prairie, TX; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. Jose was preceded in death by his parents; nine brothers and sisters; his wife: Rose; one daughter: Marcia Jackson Woodland; one son-in-law: Jesus Tanguileg; two sisters-in-law: Connie and Maria; and one brother-in-law: Frank. Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2013 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Father John Groner officiating. Jose’s son-in-law, Brian Nering, recalled his wonderful memories of Jose. The song “Amazing Grace” was played and serving as escorts were Brian Nering, Mark Baker, Shawn Jackson, Lawrence Woodland, Robert Tanguileg and Manu Teo. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
