Karen Sue Rogers

Karen Sue Rogers, daughter of the late Larry Kendall Rogers and Natalee (Goodwin) Rogers, was born September 16, 1946, in Chicago, Illinois. At the age of seven, Karen and her family moved to Waynesville, Missouri where she grew up, attended school and graduated from the Waynesville R-VI School District with the Class of 1964. Karen furthered her education at Southwest Missouri State in Springfield, Missouri, earning a double major in English and Spanish, and spent two summers studying Spanish at Instituto Tecnologico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey. She then earned her master’s degree from University of Missouri-Kansas City (UMKC) in Counseling. Karen began her career teaching in Jefferson City, Missouri, where she taught for two years before moving to Kansas City to teach in the Hickman Mills School District where she spent the remainder of her career. Karen was an adventurous person and enjoyed traveling to many countries with various friends to experience the cultures at each stop. She had a love for anything Spanish and enjoyed communicating with others that could speak the language. She loved the arts and theater and was a wonderful cook. Karen was a member of many organizations including the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art - Friends of Art. Family was very important to Karen, and she treasured the times that they could spend together. Karen passed away Tuesday, March 18, 2025, in The Village at Mission in Prairie Village, Kansas having attained the age of 78 years. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory, her partner: Enrique Gutierrez of Kansas City, MO; two sisters: Sharon Wright (Bob) of Buda, TX, and Sydra Rogers (Keyvan) of Plano, TX; four nieces and nephews: Kendra Saldivar (Jason), Adam Wright (Laurie), Lindsey King (Gordon) and Kendall Ranjbaran (Chia-Ying); eight great nieces and nephews: Shawn Mirr, Samuel and Avery Wright, William and James King, Eloise, Katharine, and Augie Ranjbaran; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by one sister: Sheila Tronsdal; and one brother-in-law: Thomas Tronsdal. Even though she is gone from our sight, Karen’s love for her family and adventurous spirit will live on in our hearts forever. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 26, 2025, in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Burial will follow in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville, MO. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Charitable contributions may be made in memory of Karen Rogers to the charity of your choice.
