Kathryn Elizabeth "Kathy" Perry

Kathryn Elizabeth “Kathy” Perry, daughter of the late James Daniel Hoffman, Sr. and Barbara Isabelle (Sifford Hoffman) Short, was born March 14, 1951, in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. Kathy grew up in Pennsylvania until the age of 8 when the family moved to New York for one year, then to California where she graduated from John F. Kennedy High School in Fremont, California with the Class of 1969. She furthered her education at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, California, then at Monterey Peninsula College in Monterey, California. Kathy worked as a secretary for various companies from 1978-2005: working 10 years in the alcohol and drug field; working for DSFI, a paper converter company in Cerritos, California; working for Van Son Holland Inc. in Cerritos, California. In 2002, Kathy moved to Waynesville and began working for Rand’s Lumber then Meeks Lumber. In 2005, Kathy began working for Mark Prugh, Attorney at Law, for approximately 10 years before retiring. On October 4, 1970, Kathy was united in marriage to Robert Anthony Perry. To this union, one son was born, Timothy “Tim” Perry. In her spare time, Kathy had a lifelong love for reading, especially history, and an insatiable study of the Scriptures. She loved to crochet, needlepoint, counted cross stitch; interest in art (studied in college), as well as drawing and painting. Kathy had a knack for organization having a place for everything. She was all about making sure all the t’s were crossed and the I’s were dotted. Whenever she had a challenge, Kathy would stay on the task until she had a solution or resolution, even if it had to be put on the back burner, so to speak, until an answer came. For 50 years, Kathy always had one or two roommates of the feline kind. Crystal, Missy, Sakara, Tomasina, Dodger, Mister were either rescued or they “chose” Kathy. There was always lots of love to go around! Kathy attended the United Methodist Church of Waynesville (now Waypoint Church) where her mother, Barbara Short had attended since the early 1980’s. Her faith in God grew stronger every single day in this life. In the midst of the many trials Kathy endured in her life, her devotion and worship to her Heavenly Father never wavered. She never doubted His love, guidance, and protection for her. Kathy knew she would be here until her work was done and by His will only, then she would be called home to heaven. Kathy had many favorite Scripture verses with John 14:6 being one: Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man comes until the Father but by me.” Kathy went home to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Monday, March 31, 2025, at her home in St. Robert, Missouri having attained the age of 74 years and 17 days. Her quiet, yet caring presence will be missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Kathy leaves to cherish her memory, her son: Tim (Honey) Perry of New Boston, MI; one sister: Janice Dennison of Sartell, MN; one brother: Rick Hoffman of Waynesville, MO; grandchildren: Tim (Sammie) Perry of Tallahassee, FL, Jesse Perry of New Boston, MI, Chelsea (CJ) Gauthier of Pinckney, MI, and Jacob (Jasmine) Allgood of Dexter, MI; great-grandchildren: Brinleigh, Georgia, Jaya, and Jolie; nephews: Steve Dennison of Rye, CO, David (Kelsey) Dennison of Sartell, MN, Chris Hoffman of Waynesville, and Aaron (Tilly) Hoffman of Waynesville; nieces: Sandra (Ryan) Bargas of Eagle Mountain, UT, and Sheryl (Matt) Creer of San Francisco, CA; as well as other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Kathy was preceded in death by one brother: James D. Hoffman, Jr. (September 23, 1999); and one sister-in-law: Robin Weber Hoffman (January 11, 2025). Services were held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 8, 2025 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Danny Graves officiating. Janice Dennison, Kathy's sister, and Tim Perry, Kathy's son, both recalled their wonderful memories of Kathy and delivered beautiful eulogies celebrating Kathy's life. The songs "I Can Only Imagine" by Mercy Me, "Nearer My God to Thee" by Jason Tonioli and "Change My Heart O God" by Don Marsh were played. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville with family and friends serving as escorts. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kathy to the Waynesville/St. Robert Senior Center.
