SFC (Ret) Kevin Alan Ligon

Kevin Alan Ligon, son of the late James E. and Ima Jean (Roberson) Ligon, was born November 10, 1956 in Jonesboro, Arkansas. He passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 having attained the age of 62 years. As a young boy, Kevin grew up in Little Rock, Arkansas where he attended school. After graduating from high school, Kevin entered the United States Army and served his country faithfully until this retirement. He had attained the rank of Sergeant First Class and earned several awards and commendations; some of which include: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal (4th Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (5th Award), National Defense Service Medal, Southwest Asia Service Medal w/1 Bronze Service Star, Noncommissioned Officer’s Professional Development Ribbon with Numeral 3, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon (2nd Award), Kuwait Liberation Medal, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Pistol Bar, Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Grande Bar, Expert Infantryman Badge, Silver German Army Marksmanship Badge, and Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal. After his retirement from the military, Kevin began working for Batelle Memorial in St. Robert, Missouri. In his spare time, he was able to do more of the things he enjoyed. He was an avid Arkansas Razorback fan and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a great law enforcement supporter and had an enormous love for Taz, his loyal friend (dog). He attended Buckhorn Baptist Church in Waynesville. Kevin will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. He leaves to cherish his memory, two children: James Ligon (Makayla) of St. Charles, MO and Misty Summerhill of Waynesville, MO; five grandchildren: Ali Hagood of Lebanon, MO, Zach Hagood of Springfield, MO, Seth Hagood of Lebanon, MO, Lynsi Hagood of Laquey, MO and Kayleigh Ligon of St. Charles, MO; three great grandchildren; Gracie, Beau and Lucas; three sisters: Karen Wagnon (Ted) of Little Rock, AR, Lisa McClain of Memphis, TN and Terri Ligon ofthe state of Texas; former spouse: Lynn (Williams) Ligon of Van Buren, AR; other relatives and friends. Services with military honors were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 19, 2019 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Larry Atkins officiating. The songs “I Will Rise” and “How Great Thou Art” were played. Military honors were provided by the United States Army of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Kevin Ligon and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
