Leasle C. Tallant

Leasle Carnez Tallant, son of the late John Douglas Tallant and Katy Myrtle (Marlow) Tallant, was born May 14, 1927 in Chillicothe, Texas. On February 3, 1951, Leasle was united in marriage to Lucille Lorraine Langell in Yakima, Washington. They shared over 64 years of marriage together and were blessed with four children: Alden, Cynthia, Brian and Adam. In 1953, Leasle and Lucille moved to Licking, Missouri in a heavy winter storm, and then to Salem, Missouri. In 1960 they moved to Potosi, Missouri. In 1961 the family moved to Waynesville, and has been residents here since that time. At the age of 11, Leasle made a profession of faith while attending a church revival held at the Wonders Creek School, in Wonders, Texas. On March 13, 1946, Leasle entered the Navy, serving in San Diego, California, Yokosuka, Japan and Shanghai, China as a Seaman, 1st Class. He received an early honorable discharge January 3, 1948 and flew back to San Francisco, California. Leasle resided with his parents in Central Heights, Arizona before moving to Eugene, Oregon in 1951 where he met Lucille. Leasle worked as a local business man with his brothers and dad in the St. Robert area for 40+ years. They purchased various farms and began raising cattle in the 1960’s. He and Lucille moved to one of the farms on J Highway, Newburg, Missouri in 1985 where he semi-retired. He was a long-time member of Hickory Hills Baptist Church of St. Robert, where he served as a deacon many years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, chasing grandchildren, gardening, and farming. Leasle was a member of the local Waynesville Masonic Lodge 375 AF and AM, and Shrine for over fifty (50) years. Leasle leaves to cherish his memory, their children: Alden W. Tallant of Stoutland, MO, Cynthia R. West (Donley) of Waynesville, MO, Brian L. Tallant (Kathy) of Newburg, MO and Adam K. Tallant (Nancy) of Waynesville, MO; ten grandchildren: Alicia Tallant, Chris Tallant, Jeremiah Woodring, Jessie Woodring, Brian West, Chrystal Thompson, Luke Tallant, Scott Tallant, Kyle Tallant, and Kevin Tallant; eleven great grandchildren; two sisters: Joyce Carter of Salem, OR, and Beth Mokhtar (Alhmed) of Lebanon, MO; two brothers: Billy Lloyd Tallant (Bonnie) of Lebanon, MO and Charles Dale Tallant (Pat) of Dixon, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Lucille L. Tallant, Leasle was preceded in death by his parents, two siblings: Lewis Darrell Tallant and Mary Phlorene Carter; and one great grandson: Cole Tallant. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 15, 2018 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Richard Breeden and Pastor Mark Tallant officiating. The songs “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace” were played. Serving as honorary escorts were Luke, Scott, Kyle, Jake, Rick, and Brian Graysen Tallant, Jeremiah Woodring, Johnnie Jeffries and Terry Shultz. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Leasle Tallant to the Breast Cancer Research and may be left at the funeral home.
