Lena Agnes Cornelison

Lena Agnes Cornelison, daughter of the late Thurman and Woodie (Gilbert) Huffman, was born May 8, 1925 in Minot, North Dakota. As a young girl, Lena and her family moved to Iowa and she graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1943. On March 15, 1944, Lena was united in marriage to Arthur J. Cornelison in Burlington, Iowa. They shared many years of marriage together and to this union three children were born: Patricia, Nancy and Stephen Ray. Due to Arthur being in the military, Lena and the family moved several times. While still in Iowa, Lena taught school. After being stationed in the Fort Leonard Wood area, Lena owned and operated a ceramic shop in St. Robert known as the Lil Pink Shoppe. She operated this business for 10 years. Most of her working years, she was able to stay at home and take care of her family. In her spare time, Lena enjoyed working with ceramics and quilting. She was a member of the Faith Baptist Church of Waynesville and in years past she was a Director for Women’s Missionary Union and also helped in the kitchen at church every time she could. Lena went home to be with her Lord at 3:34 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in the Richland Care Center of Richland, Missouri having attained the age of 88 years. She will be sadly missed but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Lena leaves to cherish her memory two children: Pat Baker of Waynesville, MO and Stephen Cornelison of Killeen, TX; one brother: Thurman Huffman of Burlington, IA; three grandchildren: Bryan Baker and wife Chris, Jennifer Roberts and husband Calton and Mincy Mayor; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Lena was preceded in death by her husband: Arthur J. Cornelison; one daughter: Nancy Mayor; one infant brother: Cecil Huffman; and seven siblings: Mabel Huffman, Mildred Weiss, William Huffman, Beulah Sly, Robert Huffman, Carl Huffman and Wanda Huffman. Funeral services were held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, September 28, 2013 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Mike Curtis officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “Amazing Grace” and “The Old Rugged Cross”. Burial was held in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery – Fort Leonard Wood of Waynesville, Missouri.
