Linda Lou Hooker

Linda Lou Hooker, beloved daughter of the late Clyde N. Ramsey and Freda L. (Brittain) Ramsey, was born on July 31, 1943, in Lebanon, Missouri. She spent her childhood on her family’s farm in Hazelgreen, MO. She attended school in Richland and graduated from Richland High School with the Class of 1961. Shortly after graduation, Linda married the love of her life, Garlen Duane “Buck” Hooker. Their life together was filled with love, memories, and many wonderful years. They were blessed with two children, Mike and Shelly, who brought great joy to their home. Linda took great pride in caring for and helping provide for her family. She spent almost 25 years as an agent with American Family Insurance and an independent realtor. After retiring, she continued working in business as owner and manager of Hooker Storage in Richland. Linda had a joyful spirit and found happiness in the simple blessings of life. She loved traveling and was instrumental in helping organize bus tours to other cities and states. Music held a special place in her heart, especially bluegrass, and she enjoyed attending the Starvy Creek Bluegrass Festival for many years. She also found joy in working in her yard, gardening, collecting antiques, and playing cards. She was a gifted sewist who poured her heart into piecing and quilting. Many friends and family still cherish quilts that Linda made and gifted through the years. Early in life, Linda made a profession of faith, and her faith remained an important part of who she was. She was a member of Eureka Baptist Church, where she faithfully attended until her health began to decline. She cherished the time spent worshiping and fellowshipping with her church family. Linda entered her heavenly home on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at the age of 82. While her passing leaves an emptiness in the hearts of those who loved her, her family takes comfort in the promise of her faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Helen Sue Roberts and half-sister Ann Hickman. Linda loved her family deeply and treasured every moment they were able to spend together. Her kindness, faith, and love will be remembered by all who knew her. She will be sadly missed, yet lovingly remembered, by her husband, Buck Hooker of the home; two children, Mike Hooker (Samantha) of Waynesville, MO, and Shelly Maddux (Steve) of Richland, MO; five grandchildren, John Maddux (Whitney), Josh Maddux (Miranda), Jacquelyne Hooker-Brasher (Bobby), Jessy Maddux-Beushausen (Logan), and Victoria Hooker (Garrett); seven great-grandchildren, Jackson, Quinton, Lynnea, Huxley, Kyler, Stevie, and Nolan; as well as numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends. Though she is gone from our sight, Linda’s love, faith, and the memories she created will remain forever in the hearts of those who loved her. This is not goodbye, but until we meet again. A Celebration of Life gathering will be held beginning at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2026 in the Eureka Baptist Church of Richland, MO. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Linda Hooker and may be left at Eureka Baptist Church the day of the gathering or at Memorial Chapel of Richland.
