Mary Irene Holcomb

Mary Irene Holcomb, daughter of Frederick Lyle and Myrtle Lily (Grosvenor) Holcomb, was born July 25, 1937, in Freedom, Missouri. She departed this life, Thursday, March 19, 2026, in the Richland Care Center, in Richland, Missouri, at the age of eighty-eight years, seven months and twenty-four days. She grew up in the Stoutland-Richland area, where she attended school and graduated from Richland High School in the Class of 1955. She lived most of her life here except for a brief time living in California with her mother. During her life she was a homemaker, a factory worker and had worked at the Richland Care Center for a while. She centered her life caring for her family and grandchildren. In her spare time he enjoyed playing Nintendo, Mario and Tetris with the grandchildren, watching 80’s music and country music videos. Some of her greatest pleasures were received from being one of the best Elvis Presley fans, as she loved watching and listening to his music. Irene also loved attending car racing at the I-44 Speedway with her family for many years. Irene leaves behind her two daughters, Kelly Sasseen of Richland, Missouri, and Stacy Wheeler and her husband, Adrian of Louisville, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Devin Corrington, Morgan Yoder (Dylan), Jaimee Walters (Alex), Josiah Dixon, and Logan Sasseen; two great-grandchildren, Madelynn and Lincoln Yoder; her sister, June Gan of Richland, Missouri; several nieces and nephews, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Brian Sasseen, her grandson, Elias Dixon, two brothers and four sisters. Although Irene is no longer with us, her generous spirit and loving heart will remain in the hearts of all those who knew and loved her. Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 22, 2026 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Pastor Landon Justice officiating. The songs "Wind Beneath My Wings" by Bette Midler, "Jealous of the Angels" by Donna Taggart, and "The Dance" by Garth Brooks were played. Serving as escorts were Adrian Wheeler, Dylan Yoder, Josiah Dixon, Logan Sasseen, Don Reese, and Alex Walters. Burial follow in the Oaklawn Cemetery of Richland. Services were under the care and direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
