Mary Jane Thomson

Mary Jane Thomson was born on March 2, 1947 to the union of the late James Muse “Tommy” Thomson and Willie Marie (Vaughn) in Upland, California. In 1965 she graduated from Chaffey High School in Pomona, California and soon after met a Navy man who became the love of her life (Gary Warren, Sr) and to this union her two children were born. In 1975 Mary and her children moved to join her parents in Missouri and there she would live the rest of her life. During her working career she would be part owner of several local businesses but none of those could hold a candle to her expertise as a waitress. She loved taking care of people and it showed when she was on the restaurant floor. She adored her parents and when both of them at separate times became wheelchair bound and dependent on others; she put her life on hold to take on that responsibility. Mary cared for them unconditionally until their passing. While in the home, Mary loved to cook for her family and if you would ask her children; no one could ever match her potato salad or her goulash. Mary had a passion for giving handmade gifts; and you felt blessed when you received one. She enjoyed making quilts, crocheting, embroidery or making baskets from weaved newspapers. She loved crafting with her grandchildren and one time even made a special plaster bathtub for Faith’s Barbie collection just because she knew Faith wanted one. She loved plants of all kinds; her windows were filled with many houseplants and you would find her in the garden outside when the weather was nice. Although Mary struggled with several health issues, she never complained. The illnesses got the better of her and she went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, March 23, 2023 having attained the age of 76 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those who knew and loved her. She leaves to cherish her memory two children: Gary Warren Jr. (Brenda) and Sherry Graham both of Waynesville, MO, her brother James Bradford Thomson (Kathy) of Tallahassee, FL, two grandchildren: Dylan Warren of Valley Park, MO and Christina Thomson of Waynesville, MO, two great grandchildren: Faithlynn and Maverick Thomson both of Waynesville, MO as well as several other relatives and friends. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until time of Celebration of Life services at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2023 in the Maranatha Baptist Church, located at 200 Acorn Drive, St. Robert, MO. Per Mary's wishes, her body was donated to science and burial will be held at a later date.
