Maxine M. Wright

Maxine M. Wright, daughter of Marvin J. Rexroad and Bessie (Varner) Rexroad on April 21, 1925 in Montrose, Colorado. Maxine was raised in Colorado and graduated from Olathe High School in Olathe, Colorado in 1944. Maxine was united in marriage to James Donal Wright on April 18, 1945 in Washington, D.C. To this union four children were born: Donal, Jackie, Teresa and Anita. Maxine and James shared over 44 years of marriage. While in Washington D.C., Maxine worked at the Pentagon as an office Clerk/Typist during WW II. The family moved about following James’ career in the Army. Maxine held several jobs over the course of those years, but relished the role of Mother the most. Wherever the family was stationed, she did her very best to make it “HOME” for the family. Maxine was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Overton, Texas. She also attended the Gatesville Methodist Church in Texas where she volunteered many hours caring for children in the nursery. During Maxine’s later years, she greatly enjoyed her family. She loved sharing time and creating memories with her children and grandchildren. She was a member of AARP and the VFW Post 3176 Ladies Auxillary. She loved to bowl and travel as her health allowed. Maxine departed this life Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at her home near Laquey, Missouri surrounded by family and friends. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. She is survived by three children: Donal Wright (Corrine) of Mason, TX, Jackie Wright (Stephanie) of Waynesville, MO, and Teresa Roberts of Eldon, MO; twelve grandchildren: Ramsey Wright (Sarah), Randel Wright (Shannon), Tonya Sanchez, Michelle George (Nu), Kelly Nelson (Ryan), Carrie Cruz (Tony), Patrick Wadley (Nola Wood), Jerimah “Bubba” Wright, Chris Roberts, Tommy Roberts, Joshua Lick, and Jason Lick; twenty great grandchildren; several other relatives and friends. Maxine is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James (1990), her daughter, Anita Lick (2005) and grandson Shawn Wadley (2004). Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Pastor Allen Reeves officiating. The songs “Amazing Grace”, “Precious Memories”, “In the Garden” and “Heaven’s Just a Sin Away” were played. Serving as escorts were Patrick Wadley, Chris Roberts, Josh Lick, Jason Lick, Tommy Roberts, and Bubba Wright. Serving as honorary escorts were Tony Cruz, David Lick, Mike Brandon and Toby Hill. Burial followed in the Ozark Memorial VFW #3176 Cemetery of St. Robert, Missouri. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Maxine Wright to the American Cancer Society and may be left at the funeral home.
