Micheal Shawn Romans

Micheal Shawn Romans, son of Junior Lee and Barbara Jean (Reynolds) Romans, was born November 26, 1973 in Hazard, Kentucky. Micheal grew up in Ivel, Kentucky and graduated from Betsy Lane High School in 1992. Shortly after graduating from high school, Micheal enlisted in the United States Army and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 2003. He had attained the rank of Specialist and earned several awards and commendations; some of which included: Army Achievement Medal (3rd Award), Army Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award), Army Superior Unit Award, National Defense Service Medal (2nd Award), Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, M16 Rifle Expert Qualification Badge, Hand Grenade Expert Qualification Badge, Driver and Mechanic Bade and Driver-T. On August 31, 1996, Micheal was united in marriage to Julie Ann Lofton in Buckhorn, Missouri. They shared over 17 years of marriage together and were blessed with three children: Michayla, Micheal, and Alexzander. After his honorable discharge from the military, Micheal began working at the Wal-Mart Distribution Center in St. James, Missouri, where he was currently employed, in February 2003. In his spare time, he enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, reading and playing online games with friends across the country. He loved watching survivalist YouTube videos online. Micheal was a member of the Plato Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rites of Joplin, Missouri and the Francis J. Lynch VFW Post 3168 of Laquey, Missouri. He was very involved in the Boy Scout organization and served as Troop Master for several years. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family and friends. Micheal passed away Monday, January 13, 2014 in the General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital of Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri having attained the age of 40 years, 1 month and 18 days. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Micheal leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Julie Romans of the home; four children: Zachary Romans of the state of Kentucky, and Mickayla, Micheal and Alexzander Romans all of the home; his parents: Junior and Barbara of Mouthcard, KY; maternal grandmother: Betty Reynolds of the state of Kentucky; one granddaughter: Myra; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Micheal was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather: Tott Reynolds (April 11, 2004), and his paternal grandparents: William Romans (June 27, 2011) and Ethel Romans (May 25, 2005). Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in the Church of the Nazarene of Waynesville, Missouri with Rev. Jason Stevens officiating. Several people of the congregation recalled their wonderful memories of Micheal and the song “I’ll See You Again” was played. Serving as escorts were Dave Nelson, James Lofton, Jeffrey Lofton, William Lofton, Jesse Lofton and Jack Barnes. Burial with military honors followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery – Fort Leonard Wood of Waynesville. Military honors were provided by the Missouri Honors Team. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert.
