Mildred Posten

Mildred Belle (Johnson) Posten, daughter of the late Brown and Winnie (Watson) Johnson, was born March 21, 1920 in Waynesville, Missouri. She went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, August 21, 2012 in the Richland Care Center having attained the age of 92 years and 5 months. Mildred grew up in Pulaski County and graduated from Richland High School in 1938. In that same year on December 3, Mildred was united in marriage to the love of her life, Clyde Martin Posten in Waynesville, Missouri. Mildred and Clyde spent many wonderful years together and were blessed with seven children: Norma, Jerry, Carolyn “Sue”, Freddie Dale, Roy “Earl”, Larry Gene and Janice “Kay”. Mildred was a hardworking woman and took great pride in caring for her family. She had the privilege of staying home for the majority of her working years and raising her children. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her vegetable and flower gardens, cooking and spending time with her family and friends. At an early age, Mildred made a very important decision in her life and accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior. She was baptized at Barlow Ford. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Buckhorn, but also enjoyed the fellowship at Crocker Christian Church. Though she is gone, Mildred will be treasured in our hearts forever. She leaves to cherish her memory her six children: Norma Rowden (Charles) of Lebanon, MO, Jerry M. Posten of Richland, MO, Carolyn “Sue” York (Richard) of Waynesville, MO, Freddie Dale Posten (Mary) of Richland, MO, Roy “Earl” Posten (Pat) of Richland, MO and Janice “Kay” Adamson (Larry) of Decatur, TX; three sisters: Mrytle Coogan of Kirkwood, MO, Hazel Wallace of St. Peters, MO and Ann Landreth of Richland, MO; one sister-in-law: Velda Johnson of Waynesville, MO; 15 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Clyde; one son: Larry Gene Posten; and one brother: Wayne Johnson. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 24, 2012 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland with Bro. Perry Ward officiating. Soloist Becky Lercher sang “In the Garden”, “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Memories”. Serving as escorts were Mark Rowden, Darin Adamson, Nathan Adamson, Jim York, Joe York, Jason York, Greg Posten, Troy Posten, Curt Posten and Chad Posten. Burial followed in the Crocker Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapel of Richland.
