Nancy Mae Myres Watts

Nancy Mae (Miller) Myres Watts, daughter of the late James Ralph and Delphia (York) Miller, was born May 15, 1926 in Winnipeg, Missouri. As a young girl, Nancy and her family moved to St. Louis for a time before coming back to the Laquey, Missouri area where they purchased a farm. In 1946, Nancy was united in marriage to William Bailey Myres and they were blessed with one son, Marvin and two daughters, Shera Jean and Shirley Ann. William passed away in 1989. In 1995, Nancy was united in marriage to Burgett “Bud” Huston Watts. They shared over 21 years of marriage together before Bud preceded her in death in 2016. Nancy was a hard worker and took great pride in providing for her family. She worked at the Post Exchange on Fort Leonard Wood and was a faithful employee until her retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed being outdoors while fishing or working in her flower gardens. She was also talented when it came to crafts, such as knitting, crocheting and quilting and she loved sharing her handwork with her family and friends. She was a member of the Francis J. Lynch VFW Post 3168 Ladies Auxiliary for many years. As a young girl, Nancy made a profession of faith and was a long time member of the First Christian Church of Waynesville. Nancy passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 in her son’s home after a long illness having attained the age of 91 years. She will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved her. Nancy leaves to cherish her memory her son: Marvin Myres and his wife Shirley of Laquey, MO; four grandchildren: Kabin Myres, Coby Myres, Clint Hardecke and Delena Haney: step granddaughter: Leighanne Gargus; several great grandchildren: Samantha, Josh, Russell, William, Colton, Sierra, Summer, Kennedy and Debbie; two step great granddaughters: Abby Williams and husband Launce and Mandie Mogab and husband Dalton; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Nancy was preceded in death by an infant sister and her two daughters. Services were held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 22, 2018 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Chaplain Mark Johnson officiating. The songs “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace” were played. Serving as escorts were Kabin Myres, William Myres, Coby Myres, Josh Haney, James Haney and Clarence Wieners. Burial followed in the Deerlick Cemetery of Waynesville, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Nancy Myres-Watts and may be left at the funeral home.
