Randall Elwin "Randy" Holyfield

Randall Elwin “Randy” Holyfield, son of George Allen and Eunice V. (Williams) Holyfield, was born February 13, 1947 in Wynne, Arkansas. Due to his dad being in the military, Randy grew up all over the world. The family lived in Germany, Japan and various places in the United States, but they eventually found themselves in the Waynesville and Laquey area where he attended both school districts. In 1966, Randy entered the United States Navy and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1970. While serving in the Navy, Randy obtained his GED and also earned the National Defense Service Medal and his main job was as cook. Randy was united in marriage to Charlene Hendrix and they shared many wonderful years and memories together. After leaving the military, Randy began working as a long haul truck driver. He loved to drive and was able to do so for many years for some wonderful companies, Frontier Leasing, Carlisle and Beacon. He was known on the radio as “Pooh Bear” and he loved to talk to his trucker buddies. Randy always had a special companion with him every time he would be out on the road and that was his puppy Baby Morgan. Unfortunately, Randy had to discontinue driving due to his health and was disabled in 2012. In his spare time, Randy loved watching movies, teasing Char and playing cards with his mom. In his younger days, he liked to play baseball and football. He was a member of Buckhorn Baptist Church for many years. One thing Randy loved more than anything was his family. He was Char’s “special husband”, “our Dad” to the kids, “Big PaPa” to the grandkids and “Great Big PaPa” to the great grandkids. “He may not have been the best dad in the world but he was the dad that we loved and cherished”, according to Randy, Christy and Pearl. He will be greatly missed by all those that knew and loved him. Randy passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014 in the Cox South Medical Center of Springfield, Missouri having attained the age of 67 years. Randy leaves to cherish his memory his wife: Charlene of the home; mother: Eunice V. Williams-Holyfield of Waynesville, MO; one son: Randy Holyfield, Jr. and wife Sara of Richland, MO; two daughters: Christy Crossland and husband Bucky of Waynesville, MO and Pearl Manley and husband Jeff of Waynesville, MO; one stepson: San Hendrix of Waynesville, MO; one stepdaughter: Chasidy Burns of Lebanon, MO; six grandchildren: Crystal Hawley, Whitney Avery, Butch Crossland, Katelyne Holyfield, Autumn Holyfield and Kirby Holyfield; three great grandchildren: Conner, Lexi and Ian; one sister: Jenny Ann Saltzman of Leaton, MO; two brothers: Clarence Holyfield of Richland, MO and Tim Holyfield of Waynesville, MO; three nieces: Tammy Jo, Missy and Becca; puppy daughter: Baby Morgan; several other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father: George Allen Holyfield; paternal and maternal grandparents; two nephews: Corey Saltman and Timmy Holyfield, Jr.; one grandson: Lucky Garren; and one great grandson: Allister.
