Richard Lee Gillmore

Richard Lee Gillmore, son of the late Ralph Gillmore and Delores Gail (Demster) Gillmore, was born July 18, 1961 in St. Louis, Missouri. At the age of 7, Richard and the family moved to Richland where he grew up and attended school. Richard entered the United States Army and served his country for 3+ years and then transferred to the Reserves. On January 11, 1980, Richard was united in marriage to Jackie Louise Johnson in Waynesville, Missouri. They shared over 40 years of marriage together and two children: Jennifer and April. Richard continued to serve his country as a civil service employee on Fort Leonard Wood as a mechanic. He also worked for a time at Big Shot and Castle Rock at the Lake of the Ozarks. In his spare time, Richard enjoyed working on his car and being out on the water while fishing and floating. His favorite pastime was playing with his grandchildren. He loved his family dearly and loved spending time with them. Richard passed away Friday, October 30, 2020 in the Lake Regional Hospital of Osage Beach, Missouri having attained the age of 59 years. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Richard leaves to cherish his memory, his wife: Jackie Gillmore of the home; two children: Jennifer McGinnis (Robert) of Lebanon, MO and April Gillmore (Michael Bagby) of Richland, MO; four grandchildren: Dion Gillmore, Bob McGinnis, Mary McGinnis and Trinity Inman; seven siblings: Nell Jackson (Charles) of Nahunta, GA, Sharon Rister, Mike Gillmore, Marilyn Gillmore, Kathy Henson, and Ralph Gilmore, Jr. all of Richland, MO and Kimberly Hess (Gary) of Lynchburg, MO; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Even though he is gone from our sight, Richard’s love will live on in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held at 5:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 4, 2020 in the Memorial Chapel of Richland. Inurnment with military honors will be held at 9:00 a.m. Thursday, November 5, 2020 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery of Waynesville, MO. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Richard Gillmore and may be left at Memorial Chapel of Richland.
