Robert Lee Enloe

Robert Lee Enloe, son of the late James Monroe and Myrtle Eliza (Holderman) Enloe, was born December 11, 1930 in Olean, Missouri where he grew up and attended school. After moving to Waynesville in the early 1940’s, Robert attended the Waynesville school district. As a teenager, Robert enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and served his country faithfully. For his honorable service he was awarded the Korean Service Medal with three stars, Purple Heart Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. He was wounded in action in Korea on September 13, 1952. At the time of his honorable discharge he had attained the rank of Corporal. On May 27, 1983, Robert was united in marriage to Lois Venita Stacey. They shared 20 years of marriage together and many wonderful memories. Lois preceded him in death in 2003. For most of his working years, Robert was an over-the-road truck driver for DJ Transfer of Kansas City, Kansas. He also drove a school bus for the Laquey school district for several years. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed being outdoors while hunting, but his favorite pastime was fishing. Robert passed away at 12:50 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2009 at his sister’s home near Dixon at the age of 78 years, 9 months and 26 days. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by all those that knew and loved him. Robert leaves to cherish his memory three children: Douglas R. Krone (Kathleen) of Lorraine, Texas, Dennis Krone of Rock Falls, Illinois, and Myrtle Lawson (Richard) of Venita, Oklahoma; three siblings: Virginia Vosnick (George) of Dixon, Kenneth Enloe (Nora) of Kansas City, and John Enloe of Fall River, Massachusetts; 16 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by one son: Robert Jr.; one daughter: Geneva Marie; one sister: Marie Francis Adkison; and three brothers: James, Paul and Claude. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, October 10, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert with Rev. Larry Atkins officiating. The songs “How Great Thou Art”, “In the Garden” and “Gone Home” were played. Serving as escorts were Bucky Adkison, Jim White, Buzz Hendrix, Ed Foote, Jim Hester and Charlie Eickhorst. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville/St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Bob Enloe to the American Cancer Society and may be left at Memorial Chapels and Crematory.
