Ronald Ray Wilson

Ronald Ray Wilson went home to be with his Lord Thursday morning, August 27, 2009 at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of 62 years, 9 months and 23 days. Ronnie was born at 3:40 a.m. on November 4, 1946, in Modesto, California. He was one of two children, and the only son born to the union of the late Otto Ellitt and Geneva Mary (Welch) Wilson. The Wilson family moved back to Missouri when Ronnie was a young boy. He attended school at Stoutland, Richland and Laquey. At a young age, Ronnie began hauling grain over the road for Frank Breeden. Driving a truck was one of his passions in life; family was the other. Once family life began, trucking came to an end. He worked many years at Ft. Leonard Wood as a boiler plant operator and in finance. On August 3, 1979, Ronnie was united in marriage to Karen Irene (Nelson) in Duke, Missouri. They shared over 30 years of marriage, and four children: Kimberly, Herbert, David and Micah. Once all the kids were grown and on their own, Ronnie and Karen returned to trucking. He enjoyed traveling all over the country and seeing the sights with his wife. Even though they were gone for extended periods of time, Ronnie always made it a point to call and check on the kids and grandchildren. Most of Ronnie’s free time was spent with family. He enjoyed spending time outdoors. He could always find something in the yard to tinker with. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing. Ronnie received the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior and attended church at Eureka Baptist until his health no longer permitted him to do so. Ronnie was a very loving, encouraging and supportive husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by his wife: Karen; four children: Kimberly Lynn Wilson of Bennett Springs, Herbert Alan Dodd of Licking, David Joshua Brothers and wife, Rechelle of Richland and Micah Francis Marion Brothers and wife, Julie of Springfield; one sister: Janet McMahon and husband, Donnie of Richland; 7 ½ grandchildren: Nicholas Alan Dodd, Derek Joshua Brothers, Bo Daymon Brothers, Tyler Ray Wilson, Megan Marie Dodd, Madison Leigh Brothers, Zachary Francis Brothers, (and one on the way); his nephew: Ryan Wilson, and other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 31, 2009 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Richland with Rev. Doug Jacobsen officiating. Johnny Prewett shared many wonderful memories about Ronnie. Music selections included “He Didn’t Have To Be”, “My Old Friend” and “Finally Home”. Serving as pallbearers were Micah Brothers, David Brothers, Ryan Ellitt Wilson, Donnie McMahon, Ryan Hayes, David Hutton, Alan Dodd, Tyler Wilson, Bo Brothers, Derek Brothers, Nick Dodd and Zachary Brothers. Burial followed in the Idumea Cemetery, Laquey, Missouri. The family requests memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ronald Ray “Ronnie” Wilson.
