Ruby May Chadwell

Ruby May Chadwell went home to be with her Lord at 4:38 p.m., Thursday, January 27, 2011, at Sunset Village of the Ozarks of St. Robert, Missouri at the age of 85 years, 3 months and 5 days. Ruby, daughter of the late Wesley and Ona (Ervin) Fuller, was born October 22, 1925 in Waynesville, Missouri. As a young girl, she grew up in the Waynesville area and graduated from the Waynesville School District. At an early age, Ruby accepted Jesus as her Savior and was baptized in 1960. She was a member of the Gospel Ridge Church and attended every time she could. Ruby was united in marriage to James “Arthur” Chadwell on August 27, 1942. They shared many wonderful years of marriage together and were blessed with two children, Larry and Mary. Arthur passed away on February 8, 1996. Ruby was a hardworking woman and helped provide for her family. She worked as a dental assistant for several years and in her later years became the head cook for the Waynesville R-VI School System. In her spare time, Ruby enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family. She loved going to the beach in Pensacola, Florida. She was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Hanson Chapter No. 22. Her family was the most important thing to her and she treasured the time she spent with them. She will be sadly missed by all those that knew and loved her. Ruby leaves to cherish her memory her children: Larry Chadwell (Linda) and Mary Freeman (Slim) all of Waynesville; three siblings: Clifford Fuller of Jefferson City, Dale Fuller of Cedar, Kansas and Melba Null of Dixon; five grandchildren: Michael Melton, Brandon Freeman, Shauna Chadwell, Macrina and Valita Freeman; three great grandchildren: Davonté and Jayce Melton and Evelyn Freeman; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Ruby was preceded in death by one brother, Howard Fuller and two sisters, Della Zeigenbein and Donna McKinnon. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 30, 2011 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory with Rev. Bill Dudley officiating. Soloist Sherry Moore sang “Beulah Land”. Pianist Colette Long accompanied Soloist Karen Westfall as she sang “Holy Ground”, “Sweet By & By” and “What A Day That Will Be”. Serving as escorts were Michael Melton, Brandon Freeman, Shauna Chadwell, Brent, Gary and Brad Fuller, and Macrina and Valita Freeman. Serving as honorary escorts were Davonte and Jayce Melton and Evelyn Freeman. Burial followed in the Sunset Memorial Estates Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Ruby Chadwell to the Dunkard Cemetery Fund and may be left at the funeral home.
