Sandra Jean Poe

Sandra Jean Poe, daughter of the late George Rollin and Clara Mildred Kelly, was born May 14, 1948 in Beckley, West Virginia. She passed away Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in her home having attained the age of 67 years. As a young girl, Sandra moved to the Waynesville, Missouri area and attended Waynesville High School. For most of her life, Sandy was a loving stay at home mom, taking care of her children: Johnny Angel, Shawn Denise, Lora Ann, Jossate Marie, Shane Allen, Lance Edward and Christina Lynn. She worked many years at her father’s Bar Duffy’s Tavern as a “go go dancer”, waitress and bar tender. She also served as waitress at her uncle’s restaurant, Park-N-Eat. Sandy loved to dance and listen to music. She was a great animal lover often taking in any stray animal she found. She never let any animal go hungry. She loved her many little dogs that she cared for. Most importantly, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them. Sandy will be sadly missed, but fondly remembered by her six children: Shawn Denise (Godby) Tessmann of Waco, TX, Lora Ann (Godby) Banks of Waynesville, MO, Jossate Marie (Godby) Hillis of Killeen, TX, Shane Allen Godby of Waynesville, MO, Lance Edward Poe of Waynesville, MO and Christina Lynn (Poe) Scheller of Waynesville, MO; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Sandy was preceded in death by one son: Johnny Angel Godby; and three brothers: Edward Kelly, Leo Rollin Kelly, and Michael Steven Kelly. Services were held at 12:00 p.m. Monday, October 12, 2015 in the Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert with Rev. Danny Graves officiating. The songs “Go Rest High on that Mountain” by Vince Gill and “Angel” by Sara McLaughlin were played. Serving as escorts were Lance Poe, Cody Banks, Kevin Doyle, Corey Long, Matthew Hillis, Bill Banks and Landon Scheller. Serving as honorary escort was Dennis Hillis, Timothy Cordova, Logan Scheller, George Kelly, Wayne Kelly, Richard Kelly, Billy Kelly and Larry Kelly. Burial followed in the Waynesville Memorial Park Cemetery of Waynesville. Services were under the direction of Memorial Chapels and Crematory of Waynesville / St. Robert. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Sandra Poe and may be left at the funeral home.
